parallel parking was no longer required on the exam when i was 17. so i never had that on my test. and i've NEVER had to parallel park, ever, not even one time in 14 years.
We have to parallel park in lots of places. Back in the day, if you failed you tried again. This has been interesting. I had no idea.
never failed. i think i could probably have gotten an exemption in SoCal for my reduced depth perception on my peripheral vision due to my lazy eye. lol. SoCal has exemptions for everything. but still, don't see why i'd have to parallel park on a test, since the only one inconvenienced by my inability to do so is myself.
sigh* KC, I'm sorry if I offended you so deeply about this. The thread was created kind of tongue in cheek in manner dear.
not offended, uncaffeinated and completely lacking in the ability to see cheekiness. i'm like pissy robot guy before my coffee.
Well, automated parking is fine until it fucks up sending you into the other car at 40 mph! Automatic transmissions, fuel injection, air bags, GPS, and automated parking are just ways Amerikans are getting too lazy to drive a real car.
between our house and the nearest trolly stop or if we have to to get something at the lumberyard/hardware store too big to take back on the trolley unless they deliver which is probably how it would be in that case. have you seen the utility pickup pedal cars on the rhodale press pages? pretty darn cool. i'd post the link but i'm not sure i have it any more. and of course the all sorts of human powered utility vehicules that used to be more dominant in the orient and can still be found in some places in signiffigant numbers. not all 'pedal cars' are just toys. we do indeed live in a society of 'spoiled' cultural values. i still get a laugh out of the inanity of driving 50miles to get on an exercise machine and drive back instead of just walking to the grocery store and carrying back that bag of groceries. (and young baggers at stores that require serious convincing before they'll actualy believe you don't have a car, and or didn't drive to get there!) =^^= .../\...
We didn't have to parallel park with my driving exam, but there's rarely a need to do it around here so maybe that's why? That being said, I'm not very good at parallel parking and will avoid it at all costs. :&
but not nearly as much as the real alternatives we'd have if our culture didn't worship the damd automobile in the first place. =^^= .../\...
