Yep, only 727 days until the presidential election. I'm just wondering who ya'll wish would run, but who do you think it'll be instead? I wish it would be Al Gore, but I'm afraid it'll be Hillary Clinton. On the Republican side, I wish they'd just stay home, but I think they'll run John S. McCain. I say "afraid it'll be Hillary Clinton" because I don't think the US is to a point yet where any other than a white man can win. What do ya'll think? Peace, poor_old_dad
Closer to time I'm going to write a letter (or two) to Al Gore asking him to run. Now more than ever we need leadership that cares for the environment.
727 more days for bush to fuck us up i think after bush we should dissolve the office of president and not elect anyone
Yeah, last time he ran for the Senate in Tennessee, I went and helped on his campaign. Never met him, but I really believe the nation and the entire planet needs him. Peace, poor_old_dad
Man, I hate to mess up your night, but 727 'til next election. But 803 days 12 hours 50 minutes 'til another president is sworn in. Peace, poor_old_dad
prediction less then 200 days till bush is jailed for treason.. or..less then 150 before he goes total psychotic and is releaved of office due to being mentaly unfit to lead
Yeah. I've been wondering when he'll finally crack. Something is really not right with that guy mentally. He looked like was coming apart at the seams at that press conference. If Cheney decides to quit, Bush will certainly crack. .
I think you are right. Billary could never win. I am a democrat, but couldn't vote for her. Our governor, Bill Richardson (D-NM) is a moderate whom I think would make a fine president. He took nearly 70% last Tuesday, blowing away a previous record. The people simply love and support him.
Seriously, I think they should do away with partys all together and let folks just run on their own merits. And I wanna know how the heck I can vote for that Chavez guy........
You'd have to go to and become a citizen of Nicaragua. And as interesting as anything else might be, we're stuck with Bush for just over 800 more days, then there'll be another president. I just wonder who it'll be .... Peace, poor_old_dad
Venezuela actually. Thinking seriously about it. I don't think any woman could be a good president simply because there are still too many places in the world that see women as second class citizens. Wouldn't be practical. If George keeps on screwing up, or gets worse, and the state of the country keeps going downhill, maybe the next president will actually be a good guy, due to people being completely fed up. But until that point, it's been taking a certain type of person to even WANT to be president, and that is mostly folks who are on a power trip. Things will have to get horrible before someone will step up to the plate because they want to actually HELP...
I say we abolish the presidency, allow the government to be run by just the house and the senate, and allow the majority party to elect a Prime Minister to do the executive work. That, or get rid of the electoral college once and for all.
Yeah, poor_old_dad's poor_old_brain having another senior moment. I was thinking about Nicaraguan president-elect Daniel Orteg. Sorry...look for that to become a hot spot again. http://www.sacbee.com/110/story/74304.html Peace, poor_old_dad
Hillary R. Clinton Hillary R. Clinton Hillary R, Clinton Hillary R. Clinton Hillary R. Clinton Hillary R, Clinton
I don’t know about that. Canada and Britain both had female prime ministers and they seemed to do ok. However, I do not get why Hillary is so popular. Chuck Schumer has served NY better than any other senator I can recall yet, Hillary seems to have near deity status in the NE. If Hillary does run I would wager that she would take every state Kerry won in 2004 plus Ohio which gives her the Presidency. If that happens she would make history as the first female president and the first candidate to win without taking a single southern state! Anyway, while I think it would be great to have a female president there is something about Hillary I just don’t trust. I know most people are talking about McCain or Giuliani for republicans and Hillary or Gore for Democrats in a 2008 run. However, I have a good feeling about John Edwards.
Current Prime Minister (or what ever they call the head of state ) in Germany is a women, plus Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister of India. A couple months ago, Ted Turner was on David Lettermen, he suggested that the whole planet, for the next 100 years, every government should be headed by women. Hillary -- I don't know why sooooo many people hate her soooo much!! Did you know she was the second lawyer hired by the Watergate investigation & twice the American Bar Association voted her as one of the top 100 lawyers in the U.S.? I do so much wish Piney could figure out who he supports. Current odds from http://thejaker.blogspot.com/2006/05/friday-2008-presidential-odds-update.html Democrats Hillary Clinton----5:3 John Edwards------4:1 Al Gore--------------5:1 Barack Obama ----9:1 Republicans John McCain-------2:1 Rudy Giuliani-----5:1 Mitt Romney-------8:1 Newt Gingrich ---11:1 Should be good. Peace, poor_old_dad
Well now that the right people are runnin the show again'we have some breathing room at least-It makes me sleep better to know that Bush will need approval to do anything-no more rubber stamp crap-his days are done and he is useless-Its a shame we can't have another president now cuz Bush has given up and lost-and he will do very little to help the Democrats just out of spite-He has no plans to "work together" with the Dems-he know longer has the final and only say so on matters that effect the whole world!-Him and his croonies are now under a microscope and the pendalum has swung back in he direction of fairness-for everybody-we will be dumping his tax cuts for the rich crap!-He said that would really help the economy-lol-yea-HIS personal economy and his gangster redneck buddies-I will vote for Carrey-so what if he;s no Robin Williams-(tough act to follow!)
hell yes. i would love to see barack obama run. We finally have a female so close to the position of president (nancy pulosi). it gives me confidence that a longtime change is just beginning....i think obama would do alright if he ran in '08(i dont know if he would win, but there would be a good fight)
First of all, I TOTALLY agree about the "do away with the electorial college". If it hadn't been for it, we'd have had President Al Gore. In this old hippie's opinion, that would have been a lot better. I'd bet anything up to a dime that Obama will run, along with Clinton & Biden. I just hope they keep it a good, clean, issue driven campaign. My worry is, again in this old hippie's opinion, none of them has a chance of beating McCain. Should be at least interesting ... first time since 1928 that neither a sitting President or Vice-President will be running. Peace, poor_old_dad
