At 51 I've NEVER dyed my hair and don't intend on ever doing it. Only cut it once in my life at age 13, big mistake. Experimented with having a perm ONCE, professionally done - it did nothing. Who else does what?
I personally just like to experiment. I have let my natural color grow out quite a bit, and then I like to try something new. For the last couple years, I have just done blonde streaks to add some color to my otherwise dull hair. In high school and a few years after, I was all for greens and pinks and blues, reds, oranges, yellows, black, cuncks....all kindsa fun things. I just do it to have fun, that's about it.
i dye my hair all the time. it's all i do, besides cut it short. not a fan of long hair, it makes me feel repressed, since everyone around here seems to be of the absurd opinion that women are supposed to have long hair.
I picked the middle option, though I've done it far more than once or twice... But I'm not one of those women whose family members can't remember my natural color (which is who I think of as clicking that they do it regularly)! It's fun. Why do you feel that cutting your hair was a big mistake? I found that shaving my head (only way to get rid of dreads, right?) was actually one of the most liberating things I've done... Before then, I had a nasty habit of hiding behind my hair.
I love changing the color of my hair. It's harder now that I have dreads. I haven't dyed my hair in about 4 months. Peace and love
I've dyed my hair many many many many times and many many many many colors. But I don't anymore, I'm trying to grow it out and keep it healthy so I can donate it to locks of love or another charity like that who gives the hair to kids with cancer.... I have very full and thick hair, they could make a lot of wigs out of it.
about every four or five years, I get tired of my hair and do something new to it. Usually that involves cutting it real short. Last year, however, I chose not to cut my hair because I really missed it when I had 20 inches cut off last time, so I dyed it purple instead. You can see in my photo that it's still quite pink at the ends. My youngest daughter says I should dye it purple again, she really liked it. You can also see in the photo how much of my natural color has grown in since I dyed it. My hair grows astronomically fast.
my hair color is gorgeous. a very dark brown/black, glossy, beautiful...and totally makes me look sea sick. it's a crying shame. some people pay good money to have hair that color.
When I was in college I dyed it every other week practically. But I gave all that up. I had a few perms too. About 6 years ago I cut it all off on a dare and donated it. What has grown in since then is all me. It is getting really long and I have really thick hair. I also have premature grey and am about 30% grey . I love the grey with my natural dark hair. I have a white streak on my one side. I'll never dye it again.
The first time I fooled with mine,I put ox blood shoe polish on it!(yes,I'm an idiot). It was stiff as a wire brush.I was 13 then, but in high school I dyed it black, peroxided it bright blonde, auburn, red and green for st paddy's.Auburn was my fave. It's gray now(boo-hoo).In the 50's,boys did not let their hair grow--but I did.Gym teacher shoved a few bucks in my shirt pocket and told me to "get a hair cut--what the hells wrong with you"?Promptly ditched and a buddy and I went to shoot pool.Had to cut it for b-ball tho.
I wish I had red hair. When I picture myself in my head I have beautiful red hair but in real life it's a sandy brown with a tint of red. I use to dye it regularly but lately I've been letting it grow out, or well change back. red dye comes out so quickly compared to other colors. I do want to dye it blond one day with streaks of all colors of the rainbow like rainbow brite...
I used to dye it regularly, for about three years I dyed it red. Before that I put streaks in every few months because, well, soft blonde on a paleskinned girl is a little plain, I fade in with teh walls. Last time I dyed it, I used a temporary dye. Like, nearly two months ago. I still have pink in my hair sooooo I'm not gonna be playing with dye for a while. I had the blonde bleached out in the spring and apparently bleached hair reacts very peculiarly to dye. Or at least mine does. I love playing with dyes, i just hate the fading towards the end or having to get dye out.
My hairstyle and/or color changes about twice a year. Sometimes I cut it myself, sometimes I color it myself, and sometimes I get it done. I've never understood how people can stick with the same hair style for years and years. It's so much fun to change it.
