I agree, GOT is out of context with the textual content of orthodox or canonical Christianity as a whole.

Whether Jesus actually spoke what's in non-orthodox tests or even in the Bible is like evolution or creationism...strongly arguable by able persons on both sides.

However, my point remains: Is the particular verse you quoted representative of the entire spirit of GOT, or an outstandingly sexist and controversial one that you pulled out for dramatic effect?

    No, Its not like that.

Its an outstanding verse I pulled out for dramatic effect.
Its 'out of context' in the GOT itself.
It does represent the text as a whole - what really is someone who does not understand Christianity but is loosely 'paraphrasing' passages from the real Gospels.
Here the author appears to be taking a 'half teaching' from Christ teaching on the Law
    and then,
Mixing it up with Jesus teachings on 'The Kingdom of Heaven.

Thom: 27. "If you do not fast from the world, you will not find the (Father's) kingdom. If you do not observe the sabbath as a sabbath you will not see the Father."

Now, I can understand how a non-christian would not see what the problem is here.
    But,
The rest of us would recognise this as antichristian teaching and something much worse than the 'sexist' comment posted earlier.

I meant to post this link to a translation:
    http://www.gnosis.org/naghamm/gosthom.html

The first thing you notice is that its a collection of 'sayings'.
Many of them are 'based on' passages from the biblical gospels but appear to be paraphrased 'from memory' and almost certainly from someone who is a Gnostic and is not very good at writing, remembering or teaching anything.

"The kingdom of god is inside you,
    And all around you.
Not, in buildings of wood and stone.
Split a piece of wood and you will find me,
Lift a stone, and i am there."

    Someone has said.. that
"Lets put it this way.. if Jesus really did say something like this - it would be the wierdest fucking thing in the history of the fucking planet wouldnt it?
    Wouldnt it?"

    seems perfectly rational to occam
Maybe occam the agnostic has the soul.. and thou has a horse apple.

Yes, well I have no doubt that appeals to you.
Instead of putting the Kingdom of God as a 'spiritual kingdom' which God places in your heart...
.. it makes a wishy washy 'god is everywhere and everything' nice and lazy ambiguous world view.
    Perfect when peaking!

But I did enjoy this article on the gospel of Thomas.
    http://www.apologeticsindex.org/g08.html

You wont read it but there it is for others at least.

You dont think that is what I think.

Obviously, I think Jesus knew the mind of God.

Occam is not pretentious enough to clam to know what it is you think.
Occam repects above all the thought of free thinkers. Human beings.
    Your thoughts are your thoughts.
    Unless they are anothers

    Are they?

    Yes indeed.
I have the fantastic right to free will and freedom of cognition that we all do.
    What about you?
Do you have your own thoughts or are they co-owned and directed/limited by THC?

It is a stupid question. Ask Bob Marley that. One love, one heart...
He was a believer, and he smoked weed, and he always preached love.
That is not a problem to me.
If you feel weed makes one less intelligent, I can say with a great amount of confidence that it does not. It may do so for a few hours or so, but in the long run, only extremely excessive use has any effect.
I know of an example of someone who smoked weed daily for ten years, went to college, and his english placement test score was the highest mark that the person who marked the tests had ever seen.
That was after 15 years out of school as well.

I forgot what we were talking about. Wow, look at those wild purple colours on the hipforums page. It owns, man. I'm a head out da crib and ride hard wit my homeys. Jah bless you, mon.
I used to smoke the odd marijuana cigarette, long ago, when I needed it to stave off my intense insanity which I otherwise found hard to contain. It is not an issue now, and for the last decade I have not partaken of the ganja.
    But, I digress....
    Proximo.....Proximo.....
Such a familiar manner, and recognizable perspective indeed.

There is something about former-weed smokers you can (sometimes) tell they once did.
Yes Im sure we have met before but I didnt actualy know you smoked pot.
I just base it on your writing and a hunch.

But you take razorofoccam.. Im about convinced he is not only high on weed but probably some sort of prescription drug at the same time.
    Ativan or something.

I don't feel that your comment is likely to be a compliment. Is it?
My writing in 1980 is a better example of someone high on weed. What is it about my current posts?
As for occam, even if he's on atavan, which I doubt, it has not impaired his ability to reason. In my view, he's a humble, rational, and, dare I say it, wise, person, atavan or not.
What makes you think it could be atavan?
    Wesley!
