I miss chicken noodle soup. I don't miss the chicken, I miss the high sodium content, and the yummy rich broth. I've made my chicken soup recipe without the chicken & added extra sea salt, but it tastes... just "okay." Like it's missing something. My entire family has been down sick for going on 3 weeks now, and I've got GF noodles sitting here laughing at me because I can't figure out what to put in the crockpot with them! Does anyone have a comfort-food recipe for some sort of salty noodly soup that actually tastes GOOD? love, mom
add some fat. seriously. I have septic pack "chicken" stock that is vegan and it has a fair amount of oil. also using miso as the base (and adding tofu chunks) will work as well. I tend to go spicy to break up phlegm.
The Greeks often add lemon juice to their chicken/rice soup and it really adds flavor, don't see why it wouldn't help veggie "chicken soup".
mmm, so lemon & fat huh? That sounds really really good I had to go to the store yesterday, and found a new soup stock while trying to hunt up different flours - it's called "Better Than Boullion" and I picked up the chicken version. It says it's certified vegan, but you wouldn't be able to tell by the smell of it. It smells EXACTLY like chicken boullion! I think I'll start tossing things into the pot until it smells good. Drat if I didn't just finish up the last of my tofu though! I'd add spice, but then the kids would rebel. Strange children. I think I'll toss cilantro all over the top of mine though, that sounds so yummy love, mom
Yum, peppers! My mom just stares at me when I say that... I used to pick out the most miniscule piece of pepper & deem them "nasty." Now I eat them in everything! I just picked up some red bell & peppercini (sp?) peppers yesterday. DH & I will be adding mushrooms to our bowls too... that's another "gross" food for people under 5' tall here love, mom
My MIL just made some really awesome barely and carrot soup. Perfect combination, so smooth and creamy and mmmmmmmmmm. Yeah, I was sick too.
