the parents. I liked this If I had my child to raise over again, I’d finger paint more And point the finger less. I’d take my eyes off my watch, And watch with my eyes. I’d take more hikes and fly more kites. I’d stop playing serious, and seriously play. I’d do more hugging and less tugging. I’d be firm less often, and affirm much more. If I had my child to raise over again, I’d teach less about the love of power and more about the power of love. -Diane Loomans (adapted)
I really like that. It makes you do a double take when you realize that you're doing some of those things yourself and that you need to start paying mroe attention to the things that matter. Thanks for posting that.
i love the poem! first of all heilo, swearing hurts nothing. i was always allowed to swear, so was my brother, as long as we practiced good judgment about where and how to use the words, and never tried to hurt anyone with those words. as far as the emo, gangsta thing goes, i personally find them both stupid but i don't pass jug=dgment on people who find it appealing, and i would never dictate my childrens or anybody else's dress. when kids do this it's usually justa phase that they grow out of, but if they realize it pisses dad off, they will just be more determined to hold onto it and flaunt it. oh, and i wear guy jeans regularly, they're simply more comfortable, and i don;t see what';s wrong with this or the reverse.you are the one with the problem if you can;t look past an appearance. and all that harsh corporal punishment does is make your children paranoid and afraid of you. oh, and the soap is definitley abuse too!
My guess is Heilo is a troll, trying to stir up trouble and he won't be back, unless people fight with him. My advice, don't feed the trolls. It's hard to do, I know, but really the best. (Wish I would always follow it myself.)
Yes, you are right. It is beautiful. I get evil thoughts and want to make wall plaques of it for my MIL and my own mom, though.
