Well, it's official...pluto has been demoted to "dwarf planet" status and is no longer consider a traditional planet. Scientifically this was always going to be the correct way to go despite the sentimentality of the public. Truth be told they say it was always a mistake to have made it a planet in the first place. What do you guys think? Does this affect its powerful role in astrology? Hmm?
Indeed it is amazing. Now there are again 9 "planets" in the astrological lexicon once again. The sun and moon have always been considered planets in astrology; while Earth is rarely used in any interpretation. I am happy to see nine planets now rather than ten. I like the symbolism of the number nine. It is a very spiritual number of great importance in numerology. Pluto will still work strongly in readings I think. It may be that in the future the lessons Pluto teaches will not be needed, or heeded. A world without astrological Pluto is a world without death and rebirth. It would be a world without crime and obsesions. It would be a world stagnant and in need of growth. I think we still need Pluto in our lives. I say it stays in Astrology.
Astronomicaly, Pluto is more of a planet than the sun. Astrologicaly, the sun is a planet. If astrologers can differ with astronomers about what to call the sun, then why not Pluto?
Well lets face it, Pluto not being a fully fledged planet wont make too much difference to astrologers as they are already using the likes of various asteroids and other planetary moons in their chart readings as it is.
I think Pluto will still rule Scopio for the time being. Mars used to rule Scorpio. Now Pluto has reigned Hopefully there will be more planetary discoveries in the solar system. Virgo needs a planet to rule it,as Mercury rules Virgo and Gemini. Venus rules two signs also, Taurus and Libra. Ideally two more planets are needed for perfect symetry in the zodiac.
^^^Why does a sign need a planet to rule it? Could the corresponced between sign and ruler be used to predict the position of a missing ruling planet, to be checked out with a telescope and thus find new planets? Or could a similar calculation be used to identify which of the large asteroids are the missing rulers of a sign? Might it be that a moon of one of the large planets is the ruling (astrological) planet of a sign? It might be hard to distinguish bettween the influennce of the planet and its moon.
There is probably a dusty old text from the Rennaisance somwhere written by Kepler. Maybe Ptolomy had something to say about planets and rulerships. If I had to pinpoint my weak points, I would have to say classical astrology and newer techniques like Uranian astrology are two. Basically I don't know why each sign needs a ruling planet.

Ok OK OK we will let Scorpio Females in - how we can say no to those soft beauitfull Female scorpios, but No males allowed - strictly forbidden for any sign, absouloutly prohibited. Just to show you, how tolerant & flexible we really are. :Angel:
