The Dead is up there for sure. I also like my Widespread too. Some other favorites "under the influence" are Nick Drake and my boys Steely fuckin Dan! I agree with polymer on the analog. The first time I heard my collection thru a gorgeous tube setup I was blown away. In fact, I was wide eyed that night as well so maybe that contributed.

I like ALL music when I'm tripping. I even had fun listening to the Spice Girls lol

While tripping I'll usually put my ipod on shuffle so I can get a taste of everything.

But the music that really stood out to me was Phish, Pink Floyd, Ozzy, and a bunch of jungle and drum & bass mixes. :]

I'm just gunna put all my favourite music on the mp3, that ranges from the beatles to rammstein, and listen to whatever sounds good when I trip. What does it actually sound like when your tripping? I know when your stoned music sort of echoes in the middle of your head, but when your on acid? Can you see it when your listening to it through earphones? Haha.

Kudos to that kidsmoke me lad, Steely Dan is ACE! I constructed a early-morning come-down play list, Do It Again by SD was the first one! I swear, it's such a good song. Outta curiousity kidsmoke, do you listen to Donald Fagen's solo stuff perchance? That's pretty sweet as well.

To Stand.: Well, during the first acid trip I had someone put Tool on. And eventually I could FEEL the wave, this continous sequence of chords that kept playing. Like it wasn't as if I saw it, but I could picture it in my head, floating in the air. It kinda freaked me out a bit actually, but I didn't know any better.

Phish and String Cheese are pretty cool but I think I prefer the Dead over anything else. Btw I'm going to see MSMW in december as well. :)

Oh yes, Steely is in my top 3 for sure, and I would put Tool in my top 5. Don's work is great too, I have his whole catalogue. I also have Walter Becker's solo album. Not as good.

I need metal, something fast as hell... but then sometimes I want to relax a bit more so anything acoustic is good for that.
Fast, yngwie malmsteen, children of bodom, in flames, warmen, arch enemy, dragonforce, iron maiden.
Slower, anything classical, mozart, beethoven, etc. Also TYR, Zeppelin, Beatles, and some light metal songs.

I love phycadelic rock like jimi hendrix, cream and pink floyd and stuff like that. I do like electronic music, just as long as it's spiritual not club music. I also like hippie music as well, lets me think about neat things... Peace!

    the Beatles 67-70.
    Hendrix, of course!
early Black Sabbath, before they were too drugged out.
Jefferson Airplane/Starship - I saw them in concert, they sucked and Grace Slick cussed out the audience.
Pink Floyd - other than Syd Barrett they weren't acidheads just innovative musicians.
the Dead and Phish concerts were great places to trip out.

    That sounds like a contradiction.

Anyway, I'm surprised that so many young people listen to 40 odd year old music on acid - it would be like if when I was teenager in the 70's I'd listened to 30's jazz or something....wierd too as most of the kids I know who are into stuff listen mostly to electronic music...maybe it's an American phenomenon.

Nah, electro music is everywhere. I luv raving music when tripping - trance, gabba-techno, happy hardcore, drum-n-beat......bring it on dude!

I just need impulsive music that makes me wanna move when I trip. Which is why fast-paced punk rock, like psycobily punk, is just what I need.

I'm only saying that all this old music is a bit like reliving the past.
the 60's and 70's are seen by some as a kind of golden age - I don't actually think they were.

But really who cares? Listen to whatever you like...
