There is something about Christianity that gets a special kind of hatred these days.
Satirists in our media take special care in ripping on it.
    Universities with courses against it.
This internet seems to be something of a special ground for those who either hate Christianity or at least pretend to.

What is it that you hate about The Way?

Is it Christians that you hate or is it Christ that you hate.. or both?
    Why?
And what do you hate the most or least?

Regardless of your rants or reasons Id also like to ask a follow-up question for everyone who posts:
    What does it feel like?
    Inside.
Use whatever language as liberally as you want but try and describe what (if any) feelings it provokes?

I don't hate christians - I think they are wrong, but that doean't mean I hate them. I don't care much for football either, but I don't hate footballers.

The trouble is that c/anity is basically an emotional thing, not a logical one. Hence, it is pretty pointless to try to discuss objectively or criicize, as the emotional response kicks in, and one is accused of hate.
And this from a bunch of people who say 'forgiveness' is one of their chief virtues.
Christians don't like challenges, and they don't like to have to think for themselves. I think that is a foolish attitude.

I've actually studied many aspects of c/anity over quite some time, and I've had to pretty much reject it based on both my studies and my life experience. I'm not saying the things I say here to inflame or to hurt - but I think it is perfectly acceptable for me to present arguments against what I see as ignorance which I think can only lead to more trouble in the world, and to many people having thier lives ruined by false beliefs.

But you make case after case for the spread of evil and decline by Christianity.
Dont you hate such an evil force.

and why do you write 'c/iantity' and omit the 'christ' part (other replace it with an 'X').
    Explain?

I guess because I can't be bothered to type it out in full every single time. Call it laziness if you like....

I dislike the forces represented by c/anity, and I think they are generally regressive. But actually, I don't hate anyone.
To hate is to be bound to the thing you hate. It is like the reverse side of the coin from love. Myself, I've never really suffered enough to come to really hate anyone.
    - I tend to see it as an evolutionary thing. Some are still at the stage where they need something like trad religion to explain their lives to them and give them some moral direction. But I also feel this is stage which humanity is now moving beyond.
A s long as there are these old time religions exercising such power over people's minds, we will never see a day of peace in this world. Because of c/anity, islam and the rest, the world is divided when what we need is human unity.

To frame it in a more extreme way, at the risk of being inflamatory, Nietzche spoke of 'the sick christian animal'. No one hates a sick animal - or if they do they are simply idiots with no insight.

Seems obvious to me why people hate Christianity.

Christianity and Islam are the dominant faiths of the world.

    Christianity especially in the West.

People generally tend to rebel against what they see as the "mainstream" and/or the "establishment".

Combine that with any established religion's bloody history and you are going to get a lot of haters.

You use a specific religion as a tool of oppression and hatred enough times and people are naturally going to despise it whether they understand the actual religion or not.

Hatred of Christianity has nothing to do with Christianity's "specialness" as a belief system, it has to do with it's status and reputation in the world, which(thanks to well documented historical events and vocal alliegence given to it by some well known tyrants and oppressors) isn't that good.

Special kind of hatred ... probably similar to what you have described for Christianity.
Do you know whats odd to me?
How many people are 'blending' or 'merging' Christianity to Islam.
    Fascinating.
Its really as if they have taken Islam and the worst it stands for and try and attach Christianity with it.
    Clever hatred!

I appreciate this response the most:
"People generally tend to rebel against what they see as the "mainstream" and/or the "establishment"."

Indeed, I think this is one of the 'perceptions' that motivates so many american teenagers to create 'Atheist' characters online.
Its not that they actually are 'blowing the minds of fundies' or 'feeling big' for 'challenging' society.
    but,
The main thing is that they think they are.

But yeah, good replies so far.

Let me ask you a question El Proximo -
Have you ever seen Monty Python's 'The Life Of Brian'?
If not , it's worth it as it's extremely funny.
Anyway - the point is that the film is obviously anti-christian, but few would seriously accuse the Pythons of 'hate' because they ridicule christianity.

It is IMO christianity itself which leads to this black and white psychology which sees everyone who doesn't agree with you as hating you. Paranoia is another possibility. Comes from taking a bunch of myths too seriously.

    Umm, reread the post.
I didn't equate the Christian faith with the Islamic faith.
What i did state is that Christianity and Islam are the dominant faiths of the world, maening of course that they are naturally going to generate more heat than any other faith/belief system.

Islam having more adherents than Christianity, i can't state that Christianity is the most dominant faith, hence the mention of Islam.

Yes I have seen it several times.
Python was accused of all sorts of things when that came out and I would recall 'hate' as being one of the better accusations.
Python members insisted it was not intended to be antichristian at all and the idea was not for it to be a 'parody' or 'send up' of the life of Christ.

Stop already with this stupid 'Black and White' nonsense.
I dont care about 'Black and White' and if we post a 'Favourite things about Christianity Topic' its not because we are so fucking stupid we think everyone loves it or nothing.

This topic should be self explanatory even to you - Hate Christianity?
If the shoe fits wear it.
If it applies to you then it does.
Its about Hatred and not 'Everything from the entire Spectrum"

There are about 400093 topics in the 'Grey Areas' so feel free to enjoy those too.

    Ummm, reread my post.
I didnt say you equated Christianity with Islam.
What I noticed was a suddenly popular 'trend' in the media, net and articles in which two different world views are being spoken of in the same sentences, identified together or 'merged' under the umbrella term 'Religion'.

    Example:
Dawkins or Elton John might say "Look at what Religion is doing in the Middle East or here in the UK"
    Now,
What they do is cite examples of Islams destruction and violence but then they do do a sort of 'merge' of concepts.
"So thats why I dislike religions like Islam or Christianity"
    OH!
    Catch that did you?

There are three major Monotheistic faiths: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. All three trace their roots to Abraham, all three have a long bloody history, all three have more influence in the west and middle east (the power player and the news maker respectively) than any other.

You are surprised that the media equates the three? Especially when 2/3 have more adherents than any other faith? Especially with both camps seeing the "war on terror" as a religious war?

isnt it interesting that ya acknowledge the destruction and violence of islam..yet ignore the violence and destruction of christianity?
wonder why theyre merged? simply because there really is no difference
violence and death caused by belief in a myth is violence and death caused by belief in a myth..what difference does it make what ya call the myth?

Christianity, Islam and Hinduism are the worlds biggest faiths.
But yeah, I noticed you decided to list by 'Monotheistic' for the purpose of narrowing it down to your construct or something.
    Buddhism being another biggie.

Christianity, Buddhism and Hinduism do not have a long bloody history.
    Islam does.
Islam is very different from the other world views in that its both a spiritual way and a socio-economic force.
The government is the religion is the government is the religion (you get the idea).

But yeah, you are doing it now shane.
Look at how you 'merged' them.
You narrowed 'religion' down to three, did the 'they are all abrahamic' (merge) and then dropped Judaism for numbers.
So now you have IslamChristianity together as one unit at the end equation.
Im mean seriously.. did you even realise you just did that lol?

But yeah, Wikipedia lists the three major faiths as
    Christianity
    Islam
    Secular/NonReligious
Since Christianity hasnt been a 'state' for centuries its the other 2/3rds who have pretty much take credit for the worst genocides and wars in the last century.
Thats the problem with beliefs like Islam and Irreligiousness - mass destruction, war and murder.

    Right.

look at all the hatred christianity spouts constantly
your evil your going to hell
isnt that a special kind of hatred?
    sure feels like it

easy targets are easy to joke about
christianity makes no sence, so ofcourse its a joke
    universities teach reality not fantasy
so ofcourse they have anti christian classes

for 1.. the fact that ya capatilize the and way
cristianity is 1 way..not the way..and its not ebven a very inteligent way
in fact its the wrong way down a 1 way dead end street
its alotta lies and confussion and utter nonsence that your told to simply believe even if logicaly its nonsence

christianity..and its not hate, its pitty
christ..if he existed..was just a cool ass hippy..nothing to hate there but christianity is completely opposite of christs example
bu8t ofcourse christ is probly made up just like all the other myths

why, because christians are the most self ritouse hate filled hypocritical assholes who all feel its theyre job as christians to tell every person on earth whats right for them..they insist theyre way is the only way, then they try to influence the government to pass all christian moral based laws that seriusly fuck up the worlsd for everyone, just to push theyre sick agendas and 'prove' themselves self ritouse

hmm well..how to phrase this...thoughtfull? capable of rationaly examining things instead of regurgitating mindless quotes
    sane maybe
truthfully it feels pretty damn good inside thank you :)

basicaly, free and happy, glad i can think for myself
exstatic i was never brainwashed.. joyful..hell every momment is a celebration of life, not a suffering on until the release of death that christians wait for
    its really about compassion withme
i see christians waste theyre entire lives waiting for something good they feel will only come once theyre dead and go to never never land
but if life is all we have, heaven or hell is what we choose to do in the here and now
christians live every day in hell..self created hell
constant judgement and regret and beggimng for forgiveness for the horrible sin of being born

yup thats how it feels, lifes a gift not a curse

    buddhism is not a religion
    its a spirituality
    sorry

damn what world do you live in?
have you even ever read the bible?
your right about buddhism havin a peaceful history and somewhat hindus
    but christianity?
umm if u believe the bible as truth, wouldnt u call destroying all life on earth in a flood as brutal? what about destroying whole citires..rape and murder and torture and slavery in gofds name
ok, thats just biblical history which isnt real (unless u believe it but if u do u must recognixze christian britality)
    now on to real history
christianity has been responcible for the destruction and death of so many cultures and people, right now in history we atre in the beginning of the worse war imaginable, all over good christian values
look at the death toll in christianities expansion efforts in the mid ages on into today
look at the 6 million or more native americans killed for being ssavage heathens
look at the death of theyre culture and the continuing piosioning of theyre spirits by cristian churches
damn i could go on for hours chronicaling the destrictiveness of christianity

hih? have u ever looked on the good ol dollar bill?
have u ever seen books and products pulled from the market for not having good christian values
what about movies music tv ..news, vidio games everything being sensored or removed from the market for not being proper accordimng to christian values
if thats not a socio-economic force then what is?

sure do..just go to court and sswear on a bible the same 1 the president swears on the same president thats elected simply cause he says god the most often
put a war mongering maniac on the ballot with the most inteligent level headed athiest with briliant ideas that would cause world peace
christiands would automaticaly vote in a cristian maniac anyday just cause hes cristian..yup..i know what its like and i hate it

religion ..all religion insistimg they are the 1 true faith is the problem, so, why not merge em/..theyre all the same after all

usa is a christian state wether its denied or not
non religiosness never caused no wars

christianity has always been a state in that it seeks nothing less then total control of every governement and the world..would democracy seek to enforce democracy on others? no thats not democratic
but christianity spreads like disease under the guise of democracy
bring em democracy so thay can be good christains

can uhonnestly say that christianityhasnt caused this war we're in now?
as a cristian dont u want to see islam destroyed?

Per Websters...Hate: a. intense hostility or aversion, usu. deriving from fear, anger, or sense of injury.

To apply this to my own feelings and perceptions about Christians and Christianity:

-intense hostility or aversion: Towards Christians...that's not my general mindset. If a Christian rubs me the wrong way, I can feel momentarily hostile and averse.

I'm a very positive person and as a rule don't hold grudges or negative attitudes more than briefly.

"Some of my best friends are (Christians)"

-deriving from fear: No, because I don't fear Christians as people nor do their beliefs arouse fear in me.

I am concerned about a certain group of them possibly gaining too much political power.

Regarding Christianity, I consider the foundational tenets of Christian orthodoxy...Catholic and Protestant...to be absurd and superstitious, and actually have a very hard time comprehending how people can take this seriously.

I can't even think of hate and Jesus Christ simultaneously...I believe that he has been long misrepresented by his followers.

-deriving from anger: Unsolicited Christian prosetylization makes me angry if it is obnoxious...but this emotion can be aroused by pushy evangelism on the part of any religious group...or political group or whatever.

If prosetylization is of a more gentle nature, it doesn't bother me...I just politely tell the person that I'm not interested.

-deriving from a sense of injury: I've come away from "discussions" with Christians feeling that my intelligence, and personal/spiritual integrity has been insulted at a very fundamental level...in other words, pissed off and resentful.

In an emotional sense, this is the biggest problem I have with Christians ...the "truth" always comes from their side and they are usually apt to be arrogantly dismissive and contemptuous of any spiritual viewpoint or related conversational input other than their own.

    Thanks for the reply Soaring.
In your case I can actually feel a tangible hatred coming through your posts so it was interesting to see that again.

Are you sure you dont have just a little bit of that hate because of a love of darkness.
    Darkness that hides deeds.
Deeds you hate having exposed to the light.
Maybe being accepted as a sort of 'Groovy Uncle' hippy into a rave.. you know, maybe win over the confidence of some younger girls, later on getting them hooked up with some E... the right combo and ole Uncle groovy takes them back to his minivan?

Just throwing that out as an example but something like that maybe?

Yeah, its pretty weird. They base it on this guy named Jesus who went around claiming to be the Son of Man and then after he was crucified he rose from the dead.
He had followers who recorded the whole thing and wrote about it.
    Crazy!

but after declaring it absurd, superstitious and being amazed anyone can take it seriously you write about them:

Err you mean just like you did to them?

yes and what i gotta wonder is...why dont you?

cause there is no christ in xtianity
if christ existed..hed be ashamed of xtianity
xtianityhas become very antoi christ like
xtianity by its own rules would condemn christ to hell

but luckily for you its all just a myth..a convienient lie you can feel good about believing
