The top Five selling albums are: 1-Eagles Gr Hits Vol. 1 (28 Million) 2-Micheal Jackson Thriller (26 million) 3-Pink Floyd The Wall (23 million) 4-Led Zeppelin IV (22 Million) 5-Billy Joel Gr Hits Volume 1+2 (21 Million)
weird, i thought Dark Side of the Moon would be up there?... didnt it sell over 25million in the first 25 yrs.
That list isn't right, I mean it is, but only for American sales, worldwide goes something like. 1.Thriller-Michael Jackson 2. Dark Side of the Moon-Floyd 3. Led Zeppelin IV 4. Back in Black-Ac/DC 5. Rumours-Fleetwood Mac Not sure how the rest goes, but I remember Elton John being on it.
no, the reason why the wall is higher selling because it is a DOUBLE LP, so indeed it sold more. as far as individual albums is concerned, dark side of the moon sold more, but with the wall being a double album, and it costing twice as much, it is HIGHER GROSSING than DSOTM
of course that list that was posted is American sales only. there is no way in hell that you can get an official list over who had the most sales worldwide, it is impossible! the albums which claim to have sold more than 40 million units worldwide are ACDC's back in black Michael Jackson's Thriller Saturday Night Fever soundtrack Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon The Eagles Greatest hits vol 1 but who knows if that is even accurate.......
and to add, Dark Side of the Moon sold 15 million units in the US, the wall sold about 11.5 million units, but because its a double lp, it was considered twice for each album sold, so 23 million units is counted.
Hm... I think someone has some wrong numbers: as much as I hate to admit it, IV is deffinitely up there... overrated, but up there...
You are correct madcrappie, the wall counts as two because its a double album, also, my list is for American sales, there is no way to track world wide sales
It counts as one though when sold, while the Use Your Illusion albums by Guns N Roses for example count as 2 seperate ones because they're sold as 2 seperate albums.

Ugh. There's too many soundtracks in that list for it to have any use to me. I'm sure it's correct and all, but seeing "Titanic" on there makes it hard for me to take any of that seriously.
