http://www.timescourier.com/111606/rally.html KKK set to hold rally Saturday by Al Summers News Editor alsummers@timescourier.com Members of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan have obtained a permit to demonstrate on the downtown Ellijay square Saturday, Nov. 18, at noon. Ellijay Police Chief Larry Callahan told the Times-Courier, “Members of the organization applied for a permit to protest illegal immigration Saturday morning. They met all of the specifications required by law and were granted the permit. They will be on the square from noon until 2 p.m.” The chief said at press deadline Tuesday that traffic will not be halted around the square area during the demonstration. It has been nearly a decade since the Klan last met in Ellijay. That meeting brought law enforcement agents from multiple jurisdictions, but there were no incidents reported. Callahan added, “We do not expect any problems Saturday, but we will have an adequate number of law enforcement officers available to handle them if the need arises.” potluck at the farm afterwards.. we will be there,, with drums,, hope to see you as well.. love n light
I wish I was home or I'd go. I'm in college in Boston though. Thanks for posting this though, I'll let the word out to my friends back home.
Be careful. There have been a few KKK rallies in the past two years in my area and some of the counter protesters got beat up really bad...by the police at that.
hhb, if I was off three days in a row and could get there, I'd be next to you, bro. Def sending all my love to you and those who make it!
These same people who are leading the KKK rally are probably the ones who made my life and my family's lives a living hell when we first moved to Georgia, including burning crosses on our lawn and throwing rocks through our windows. I'd risk pretty much anything just to face them.
hate groups have changed their style, in some cases, so it now runs the gamut of various Nazi Skins (working class warriors/ gang banger mentality) to the seeded intellectual type using pseudo research to move the ideology forward. Nation of Islam (Black separatist) uses more of the intellectual side, but had it's "army" of angry young men, too. Hey, after this weekend, I'd like to see this convo continue in a more appropriate venue. I'll pop it into protest and leave a redirect.
well we are fixing to head out the door. been listnin to the scanner,,no unusual police activity.. there are only 4 of us armed with two cameras and drums.. should be interesting.. will let yall know how it gos.. love n light...
AHAHAHHAHA,, WE JUST GOT BACK.. dilli got called a dread headed freak,,an i was told i looked like i was trippin on lsd since 1969..
oh well we did our part to protest.. met two dreddie kids from tennessee,, we invited them up for tonights potluck.. they went above and beyond.. the one kid was told the rastifarians would cut his head off cause he was white.. hhehhehehhehehehehhe,, man talk about sheltered lives...
i love how people used to tell me all the time when i had my locks that Black Rastas hated me for what i was doing. except that i was offered many times, by true rastas to join there church....i always told them thank you, but that i belong to no church....and they would smile and shake my hand......
i live in ga and the only kkk here are 18 yr old morons and 80 yr olds living in the 1930s. ive never even heard of something remotly like that happening. where in ga did this happen? I belive in north ga there is a stronger following from what i hear.
yes it happenned,, an yes we were there.. was about 17 robed clansmen,,an about 30 supporters.. the sad thing is,, we were in a group of only about 15 counter protesters.. an the cops were numbering around 100.. our tax dollars at work..
RTFO, Hippie. Wish I could have been there. Bigotry is so heartbreaking, in any form. Just checked out your website. The Farm looks like an awesome place to visit. When my boy is a little older, and I manage to leave the "ratrace" for greener pastures of my own, maybe we could come down your way for a weekend, I'd love to show him a simpler way of life than what his 4 years have been! Thank you for spreading some joy.
