Knowledge is Power!

Ok, I have this idea that will either turn out to be a really good, fun to do idea, or a totally stupid pointless one?

What I want to do is to create a knowledge base/gallery sort of thing all about weed. There are a few good sites out there but most of them are biased and as far as I know none of them are made by actual smokers.

We could have short articles, guides and tutorials, info, advice etc. based on our knowledge and experience which could really help some people but also would be fun to make and read.

We could also have pictures and movies of us on sesh's so that we can show people how good weed is, but also It would be good for the hipforums marijuana community as you would know who you was talking to!

One of the reasons I want to do this is because you see alot of posts asking for advice etc. and this would be perfect for them.

Before I go ahead with this though there are a few questions:

1, Is this a good idea or a shit one?
2, Would people use it?
3, Would anyone be willing to help out e.g. write a short article etc?
4, Would the HipForums admins allow us to associate with them e.g HipForums Marijuana Knowledge Base?
5, What do you think we could put on the site? Blogs etc.

I think this would be good and fun to compile. Please leave feedback and let me know? Who knows if this works we could maybe introduce sections on other drugs? I think I have mentioned everything but I deleted the first one by accident so this is the second time I had to write it out lol!

EDIT: I would be willing to make the site as I do it all day at work anyway and I enjoy making sites but if anyone else wanted to help then cool. Also I have a few people in mind who I think would be perfect for writing an article/guide etc. so i'll PM them if this gets good feedback.

 

you can find information around the place. the thing is a lot of people have their own methods and believe they are the best. a lot of people dont care about what is technically the best method if theyve invested time and pride in asserting what they believe to be the best method. so i mean a compilation of all the best techniques is good. but then its no longer really a difinative 'knowlege' but 'oppinions'.
as well as this, there are many disputed 'truths' which really have no basis other than subjective experience which is pretty hard to judge amongst people over the internet using words like 'it was totally intense'. etc.

but i would indeed like to help with this if you want to do it with your time, send me a message of some sort.

though i suggest you stick away from growing. theres real life markets for the 'knowlege' of marijuana growing (i guess since there is market in the actual growing of marijuana).

As for noob tips there are tonnes of threads on this and everyone has their style, you can only really have 'noob suggestions' and their relevant contexts in which these suggestions are appropriate. for example, how to smoke in your room for noobs. the problem is that the ease of all the suggestions suggested in such threads involve more experienced people suggesting what works for them. this doesnt take into account that noobs are just that- noobs, and dont know enough about their situation to know what suggestions or methods to take, and so there is no useful, optimal solution for them until they are no longer noobs (because theyve worked out what works and what doesnt) and this can apply for some other things.

other problems with weed knowlege is when people discuss whats better, like a bong or joint or pipe or blunt, and there are many factors influencing what people will say, from the most basic - what they think gets them highest, to more uncountable things - individual inhalation styles, individual pipes, the huge diversity in bong mechanics, to things that people dont want to admit but im sure occur, such as people swearing by methods almost ideologically, such as blunts because of things such as that was how their weed idols smoked it or perhaps that was how it was smoked in a particular era that they enjoyed or perhaps because the rappers smoke it that way so they subconsciously or consciously believe it must be the best method. or belief in bongs because they dont know a good joint roller and thus have just had bad joint experiences. or believe in their pipe because they spent a fuckload of money on it and to believe it isnt the best method would be like believing they wasted their money, in certain senses. or perhaps they believe joints are best caus they read the smoke has the highest thc content. whatever the case, belief can be seen to be stronger as a qualitative analysis on reality than objective recording of experience.

to make this more clear, you could analogise it to religious people and prayer. people who believe in prayer will tell you their life is good after prayer. but this could (and most people who arent religious - ie dont have the same belief) be seen as simply that it was a good day (or good weed), or that people at church are nice (or that the dude with the 'awesome' bong also has awesome weed) or that perhaps life just tends to get better anyway (for example, all proper weed gets you highhhh in the end ) the list goes on.

i could go on but it really just keeps getting more complicated.

 

I understand what your saying completely but I don't think I used the best description in calling it a knowledge base?
It would be people opinions and experiences. It wouldn't be "this is how to do it" it would be more"I like doing this but develop your own methods".
I agree leaving out growing weed though.

The problem is with exsisting sites is them say what it does etc. but there is no experience.

I don't know...what do you think we could put on the site??

Also it would free up the forums to just talk about weed and have a laugh. If someone wants to know something, it will all be in one place instead of having to search and if they can't find what they want then they can post a question. Also it would be good to read about other peoples experiences.

Also it would have user submitted pictures and movies on which I think would be really cool!

Anyway, this idea may be dead before it gets started if hipforums say no?

 

could just select the most useful advice from long threads from forums, and cite them by username. then have anotehr section devoted to any objective studies for people to compare this to, and to the principles behind the techniques to compare their reality to their principle, etc. have it like a comparison between all teh ways of looking at things like bongs, bong types, bong materials,, joint rolling methods, brands of papers, the 'to mix with tobacco or not to mix' debate, pipe materials, liquids to put in bongs, ways to prepare weed, ways to store weed, blunts, maybe a page just full of pictures of black people smoking blunts and another with rastas smoking hueg spliffs just for the sake of it

mhm it would be a site for stoners after all haha

with a little animated GIF of a cockroach smoking a joint and blowing it into a snails face adn the snails eyes sorta wave around and then slowly shrink away into the body

It would be one of a kind...hopefully!

We could even have a cool logo...

but its not about which method is best or worse its about telling people different methods and letting them decide!

what sort of design do u do Cuey? and how do u plan on going about doing this? i brought this idea up a while ago but i figured it was too much work for myself to tackle as i'm too busy designing other sites atm

the best way to do it imo is a Wiki/blog

 

yeah that sounds good. I design business ecommerce sites but I don't think this should be too much work and i enjoy doing it so i don't mind. All i'm waiting for is enough people to show interest and ill start doing it. Any help or ideas would be appriciated!

They probably mean that you can't perform illegal/criminal acitvities through the website. It is not illegal to have content on the site about marijuana.......freedom of speech bitches.
