I discovered this the other day when I became desperate to retain atleast some milk for the next morning for my favouritist cereal,Coco Pops. It seems to work only with full fat milk. It is pointless with semi skimmed or skimmed milk. Okey so all you do is add about a quarter of cold water (Not warm or hot water) into the carton or bottle and then put lid on and give it a shake. Sometimes I add a pinch of sugar. Helps the milk not to lose its original taste. So now your milk is officially unfullfat milk but it is still tasty. it is a bit like having semi skimmed milk or that red bottle top milk, skimmed. But some milk is better than no milk. The other day I had bought four pinter milk and is amazing how low it becomes! So anyway, Filled it back up to nearest third pints. The other benefit is, it lasts a day or so longer Question for debate though.. How fast does milk vanish in your home and do you miss the old ice cold milk over your cereals? Personally I do. I remember getting milk on the doorstep and pouring fresh cold milk over kellogs cornflakes or cocopops is devine. Most supermarkets retain the temperature slightly higher than the typical outdoor temperature in early morning. So this means the milk is cold, but not so cold that you feel a shiver. Milk was intended to be served ICE cold. Not cold. And also was wondering what your favourite cereal is with milk? Do you make milk shakes a lot because I know how to make a strawberry milkshake without relying souly on that Nesquick bunny rabbit. Get a blender and plop in four scoops of five scoops of strawberry icecream into the blender. Add half a pint of milk and add sugar for sweetness. Atleast a tea spoon. One teaspoon. put lid on and blend. Sometimes I add ice cubes but some blenders do not cut ice. On the safe side, don't add ice but what you can do is store in fridge. Okey so now pour contents into a cold glass and serve. If you want a really cold milkshake, add ice or bung in fridge. Or use ice cold milk.
Milkshakes are regular with my girls, half their ice-cream is eaten in this fashion, usually the strawberry or chocolate variety. I'd like the return of the milkman but severly doubt his ability to earn a wage out where I live. I usually have a bowl of muesli with milk in the morning, chop some fresh fruit into it as well.
We were at a house party once and my friend drank most of the host's milk without him knowing. Fair enough, he could buy more. Unfortunately, my friend filled up the milk bottle again with water. It looked just like milk, but would have tasted just like water. So, tragically, he would have ruined the host's breakfast as well....
I never put too much milk in there.I use very little depending how much milk there is. If it is half full, i put just below a half of water and add one teaspoon of sugar then shake.
For a really intense chocolate milk shake make it with icecream as you've said but add some of that instant hot chocolate drink mix. I have low fat yogurt and fruit on my cereal and use very little milk.
The milk does go quick, doesn't it? I'm the worst in this house for its consumption, with my constant tea & coffee making. And we all love our cereal here. Cereal is kind of a healthy meal in this house, or at least that was the plan. Bran stuff, wheat stuff, some Corn Flakey stuff. My faves as a kid (and probably still to this day) were Wheetos (sp?) and Coco Pops. Chocolate is my first answer to most things! I have to say though, I wouldn't stand for any water in my milk. It's just wrong! I know it can be a nightmare when you get up, boil the kettle, have your tea/coffee all lined up and then discover the milk is gone. But watering it down wouldn't of eased that pain one bit if you ask me One thing I like to do if there's loads of milk is have a coffee made with no water. Where you boil up some milk in a pan, and have that be the only liquid accompanying the coffee and sugar. Known as "A Special Coffee" in these parts.
