I have decided not to go for legalisation. I will tell you why: First of all I doubt many people will respect this drug and may use it and thus exploit it for money. Obviously Cannabis has monetry value. What would this mean? Does a Country get profits from selling, producing and buying drugs? Does this give a Country a good image? I believe that any legalisation of any drug will spell trouble. I sign the petition only for the drug to be available under prescription as it has been proven that it can be most affective at easing back pain and artheritus. As a Country, we need to take responsibility for anything we legalise. We don't want a nation of drug addicts. This would put even more pressure on the already pressurised NHS. Like morphine that is available by Hospitals to patients in excrutiating pain, because Cannabis is a class c drug and has similar properties to morphine. As a medical drug, this is calls for legalisation. Due to smoking cannabis and not having it injected like morphine, it should not be used as a medical drug. It produces more harmful toxins than a ciggerette. That in a roll up with ordinary harmful tobacco, this would increase the risk of heart attack and smoking related death. Even cancer etc. We are only now trying to get everyone to quit smoking. Cannabis would severely harm the process of getting people to quit. If the patient doesn't even smoke, then he would not want to start polluting his lungs with cannabis. You need to make a spliff to get the drugs affects and you need tobacco and rolling paper. This wouldn't go down well unless they somehow could create a cannibis pill. smoking cannibis has more direct affect on easing back pain rather than a pill I would imagine.
i think if it were legalised we wud be taxed on it and itd be more expensive..i mean we pay vat on everything we buy, then council tax and tax on earnings...tax on dope would be too much for me lol
I personally like skunk but cannibis can be taken legally in Holland. All you have to do is smoke one before you get on the ferry home.
We're already a nation of drug addicts, the supermarkets aisles are full of the stuff and so are most of the trollies. To counteract the tobbacco use people who partake should be encouraged to use a pipe. Agreed smoking anything isn't good for your lungs but I don't think that can be an argument for illegality. All I want to see is a licence to grow a dozen plants, then leave me to it.
I dont think if it was legal it would be more expensive and as depablo said I would like it to be legal to grow it , its such a useful plant you can make rope clothes oil from it and yet its illegal , and as it is nice people are being jailed for growing it .
I have decided to be open minded about this so I will sign the petition. I don't agree or disagree but a thought occured;: I think people can make choices and feel that the uk has too many nanny state enforcements. They banned salt in mcdonalds food. And no super super size meals. Remain open minded.
umm 1st off your way off its not a drug its an herb canabis has massive industrual as well as recreational and medicinal potentials the gov can use proffits from rectreational use (its 100% safe, safer then any over the counter pill or tobaco or alcahol or anything) they can use the proffits to rehab drug and alcahol addiction pot has been used as a tool to help addicts kick habbits safely, without becomming addicted to pot do some research its the best medicine availible for literaly hundreds of conditions, not just those listed including boredom old pharmacology journals will tell u its hundreds of safe uses recreationaly its far better then alcahol which can be deadly ya cant get addicted to it..so no problem there right? hahaha you believe that pot and morphine are simular??? are you kidding? pot is mus scheduled as a class c drug it is in no way simular to morphine in any way pot is 100% safe and impossible to od or become addicted once again, do research i recommend www.marijuanaprocon.com i think it is, it is a non biosed look at both the pros and cons of use, and the pros outweigh the cons by a ton..as long as ya remove the con of jail are u kidding again? ya really rather have morphine addicted zombies? and all the shit about more toxins then tobaco is an outright lie..by who? yup the tobaco industry i dont smoke it with tobaco i preffer just weed so, that removed that argument by itself its known as an anti cancer agent so try again come on now if canabis can help people quite heroin it can help quit tobaco i plan on quittin tobaco as soon as i can afford enough herb to smoke through a month wrong again, theres no harmful effects of pot, plus, you can eat it instead of smoke it, best way to do it medicaly where do u get this???? i never ever ever use tobaco in my herb i rarely use papers i use a pipe who educated you? it can be made in pills (marinoil for instance, however, making pills from herbs only adds side effects canabis can contain thousands of active ingrediants, not just thc making thc pills removes many of the benifits of canibis the alternative is, tinctures, brownies and other edible versions ok finaly sence i broke my back years ago, and am in constant pain..i refuse to ever take pain pills like morpjhine or anything why. side effects, groggyness make me feel drugged, and, theyre addictive..but, they dont help the pain 1 bit 4-10 drops of canabis tincture and i feel just fine, no side effects but being happy and calm peacefullness is nothing to fear
I decided to go open minded so I stand by my words and dont stand by them. I occasionally go against everything my little gut tells me. I decided to just roll the dice and see what happens.
It's a bit sick to imagine that a country which is seen as warmonger no. 2 in the world would tarnish it's already shot to pieces image by leagalizing cannabis. You'd be wrong then. [/QUOTE]
Okay, I must admit John that some of the things you said were blatantly wrong, and I think you should do some real research on it. Eagle, I know your intentions were pure, but it did come across a little hostile in the way you were saying it. That's all. I would like to see Cannabis legalised, but not on the scale as in Amsterdam (though technically illegal).
i think legalising it to Amsterdams level would be perfect but it would need inforcing more rather than being so leanient!
I have signed the petition as I am willing to see it given a fair trial run in the Uk. This goes against my natural instincts but am open minded and fair
