The Devil, is he really all that bad?

If the devil was really pure evil wouldnt his followers become terrorists and hold high office in government? Surely there would be churches dedicated to satan and they would competing with the church !
What evidence is there that evil exists?

 

Satand greatest power is convincing the world he no longer exists...and is harmless.....he's still around...we just have other answers for bad things now that we didnt have hundreds and thousands of years ago. Used to..everytime something bad happened it was the devil that did it ...or caused it..now we have science...and satan isnt blamed anymore. So...we have forgotten him...and even play him off as a halloween ornament !!!

 

Surely science isnt evil is it? I mean its produced some pretty amazing cures and absolutely awe inspiring architecture and technology - I mean there was the atomic bomb and that sort of thing but - I cant say I've encountered much that can be described as evil that wasnt covered by the term "bad"
How does a concept of evil get implied into a concept like science

No...Of course science isnt evil...I was just saying how in the dark ages satan took the blame for plague and crop failure...all things bad that happened...and now we have science to eplaine away all the bad stuff...and Satan has become a less evil figure.

 

iv come to find god and the devil are different expressions of the same divine light...ultimatly all is one. the devil is just a mirror, as is anything really. what this mirror reflects is parts of ourselfs we dont like to see, or would rather not believe exist. thats all...the devil is a teacher helping us proccess our fear, our pain, and our darkness, by showing us it exists and is apart of the whole. that cannot be denied or percieved within the duality of good and evil forever. because all IS ONE. you are the ocean of conciousness, even if youve always considered yourself just a single wave...you are still the ocean. there is no seperation.

the bible explains lucifer as the bright and shining one...the most pure and perfect. so...did "god" make a mistake? or did "he" make an angel who would be strong enough to play the intence symbol of all that is evil? i would believe jesus would love lucifer as a brother, because jesus is love...and if one is to love another, one needs to appreciate that being for who they are. if lucifer exists then he is nessesary, and i can appreciate that about his character.

I think the Devil, although i don't believe in it all gets too bad a rap. He's actually far more interesting because he's bad in my opinion. Just like in films, the bad guy or girl has more character and substance.

BTW..my sis is pregnant and i told here Damien would be a nice name if it were a boy..Everyone else demanded she not call him that..lol..Anyway, she had a scan recently and its a girl..Damienetta sounds cool though.

I wonder, if god is supposed to be so powerful, why he couldn't destroy the devil?

 

In my eyes satan is a fear factor, kinda like when you where a young kid and your perents would tell you they know everything you do to keep you out of trouble. jail is kinda like a definition for hell, you do something against the law, you go to jail/hell w/e you call it. Altho I cant say if a hell exists or not, I still try to be a good enough person to keep my conseince at ease.

 

because the devil is a boogeyman created by people.and a scapegoat. a way to avoid responsibility for your actions. blame it on satan.

People understand duality. It's been around a loooooong time. You can't have darkness without light, you have have sweet without sour and you can't have infinite good without infinite evil.

The tale of Lucifer the Light Bearer and his fall from grace and evolution into Satan is most likely based on parents' efforts to make children behave or be "thrown into a pit of fire". Nice. They needed timeouts back in the day...

 

really though, where in nature do we have duality....there is the trinity. hot, cold, warm... dark, light, dusk... wet, dry, damp... man, woman, child...ect.

To humanity the devil is the worst thing we have to deal with. Notice how devils are always portrayed as red with horns and a certain demonic look. Well my theory is devils are extraterrestrials from another dimention that can not be seen with our eyes,"usually". They are spirits, like the ones that Jesus cast out of dozens of people years ago. They are just visitors that are very very unhuman, and make our lives miserable.

Angels are just visitors from space also but want to help us know the truth which is God.

 

Those aren't trinities. Those are results.

Some liken the devil to a prison warden, doling out punishment to damned souls in Hell. Is he truly evil if he only punishes those who deserve it? Does he really corrupt the innocent by tempting them, or is that just passing the back rather than accepting the blame for our actions? Of course, this is assuming there actually is a devil.

Yes...even The Bible speaks of Satan as being beautiful...pleasing to look at...not some horrible looking ogre......

 

Also has anyone seen a brilliant film called "prophecy" where there is a war in heaven and satan and god join forces because Gabriel wants to set up a breakaway group?
When the devil appears in that its frightening because the devil is so reasonable and you get the impression he broke away from heaven because his sin was jealousy.
