    Hi old hippies,
i'm a new member of this forum since, from little time, i'm approaching to your
culture, to way to think. Just for this, my first question is:
What are the bases on which found it culture of the being hippy?

a favor: you answer me (if it goes to you) with simple phrases because
i am an Italian boy and i don't know very well English.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Bye by Miky

Hi there Miky-Welcome to the forum-I guess what your saying is what culture did hippys come from or something like that?-Most hippys I knew in th 60s were college people in San Francisco-It was the beatniks that began the philosophy of peace and love-But it really goes back to your country acually the Christians who were being persacuted were the real first "hippies"-They lived in communal conditions; hid under the city of Rome alot and even had their worship down there-I have been into thoses Roman catacombs and seen and felt the presense-Very powerful-In America it began with the beats-Life magazine gave us kids with long hair and glassy eyes the hippy label in San Francisco in 67-So-it was just a label for the anti-war peace loving acid dropping freaks! lol-it stuck-so-we are still alive and well and though we grew older and had kids and jobs we never left the feelings of the real reason that we are on Earth to love and be a good person to other people-To be non- violent when possible-That does not mean getting kicked around but just be tolerant-to a point-hope that helped-ps-I love Rome-great people!

    thank you very much,

    You have guessed!

all of this that you have written has been very interesting!

Rome is really fantastic. There have been this year with my friends.
The Colosseo is an imposing structure.
The church of St. Pietro is extraordinary.
I have been very fascinated from the artists of road.

    Another questions:

What was the typical day of a hppy in the 60s-70s?
What did you do of special?
What is your kind of music preferred?

bye bye and good weekend. MIKY

hippies were only 8% percent european christian descent while another 8% were pagan europeans centered in dionysian practices... another 16% were native american practices with 8% of that centered in native practices of ethnobotanical practices

16% percent from indian india, 16% percent from china, japan, korea... zen, taoism,... 16% percent influenced by the beats and the avant guard

rob is a little lost in space in his answer which is quite hippy btw, since hippies can be rather spacey and so his answer is bonafide hippy

Molly-I'm glad to see your so informed on the beginnings of the hippiy culture-When I said the first "hippy" were the Christians being persacuted by the Romans' you noticed the word "hippie" is in quotes-Of course they were not actually" hippys"-as the world percieves hippys-The actual and real hippy as I am an origional-was born in the Haight Ashbury in 66- not in Rome 2 ooo years ago or anwhere else--Now if you mean the hip ie. beatniks then you are looking at France as a source of that word-The hippy word was made up by Life magazine-not by Juleaus Ceaser!-And the hippys were a group of people from everywhere-no paricular race-religion or ethnic background-Please don't confuse the word hippy withe beats-those were two different time lines-similar but different-I am not ? "lost in space" and never have been and find that comment insulting-if you want to come on here and learn something from thoses of us that were there-fine-if you want to come here and start shit-take off!-or grow up--listen to those that were there-"May The Sweet Baby Jesus -Open Your Mind And Shut Your Mouth"

I didn't say that-I am not a person of authority to start with-I am a person just like you-no better no worse-The only difference between us is the amount of years on Earth-Does this make me smarter then you-no-I just have alot more knowledge then you on the way of the world as I have lived here alot longer-You have many years of learning ahead-some will be good for you other stuff won't be-These are not the 60s-the times of innocence is gone-now you have much more be aware of around you-I hope you are around in 40 years and have had a great life-I always question authority-still do-Thats why the elections went the way they did-America Questioned Authority!-Your generation has the power to turn this planet into a gree' lush paradise or destroy it completely-You have big decisions ahead of you and I know you will choose right-good luck-

    innocence is all there is

when we let go of all of our programs
and conditionings of what we were told
    or thought life is
and we let go of all concepts
    of love and of hate
and when there is nothing left
but who we are as in
    only feeling and awareness,

there we will find our innocence
    as the child,
    earnestly and wondrously
    exploring and discovering life
    without fear

let go of the concept of who God is
    for then you might find
God is not a thing and the "other"
    but God is everything
    and a part of you

    boldly and yet softly,
look upon life with those childlike eyes,
free of images and mental constructs,
    judgments and divisions

    feeling with an awareness
as deep as the deepest ocean
