so I just watched easy rider for the first time... I dunno why I never saw it before, I guess I just thought it was something other than what it really is. needless to say, I was blown away by that movie. I would really like to spend some time watching it again and analyzing it. anybody else think this movie is simply amazing? you can tell me it sucks a big one too, but I'll prolly end up arguing with you... which is fine too.
its alot more intense than I was expecting... when it was over, I just kinda sat there for a good few minutes, just thinking. its pretty deep I would say, but its not real obvious about it.
Yep, that movie's the shit! I only wached it on cable all cut to bejesus and back, so i can say ive seen "most" of it. never saw the scene when they drop acid. on this version, you see them doing it, then it just cuts to the next scene. that happens alot when you watch things on goddamn cable. But, yeah that has to be one of my top 10 favroites. PEACE
by FAR one of my favorite movies. I'm always telling people how great it is but they don't seem interested, or saw it and weren't very impressed. Lots of people found all the riding around boring, but oh wow, that's one of my favorite parts. and I love all the little touches like what it does when switching from scene to scene...the back and forth thing haha I can't describe it. the soundtrack is good...and I felt the same when it was over...it's pretty sad ...I could go on forever about it
I thought Easy Rider was a great movie. I could see it again. I think about scenes from time to time. Captain America and Billy the Kid, two motorcylce driving hippies riding cross county and then they get killed my hillbillies. Food for thought.
I'd hardly call Billy a hippie...he was always complaining and look at how he treated the people at the commune. All he was was money hungry (and I know Wyatt wanted the money too, it's just the way Billy acted).
I love this movie, and quote it often! Even if folks dont get the line, they never say anything about it hehehe I really like the different hippie ideals portrayed in the flick. Its sort of a view into different lifestyles that were all contained in the hippie culture. There are alot more reasons to watch this other than knowing the ending, its a commentary on american life in the late 60s. One of my fave scenes is Jacks revelation about aliens - the venusians, beamin back at ya! hahahah Rumor is that all the drugs are real in the movie, even the coke at the start. Ive heard that Fonda still takes his bike to Sturgis occasionally. Now that would be a hoot - to ride to sturgis with Captain America! The same summer as this movie was made, the primaries Nicholson/Hopper/Fonda put together the Monkees movie HEAD. In one scene in Head you see Hopper and Jack wearing the same outfits they have on in Easy Rider, which was shooting the same day. Great movie, soundtrack, its all very cool.
Just watch it 50 times, and it will start to sink in just a little. I agree with Samson; there are many different lifestyles in the hippy culture.
