Never, it's a waste. You can always find another blanket or sweater.

 -40C requires some furnace action, sorry.

Usually about a week after it dips below freezing at night, my mom turns the heat on. She gets cold easier than I do, but I only would've waited a week past what she does.

Yessssssss I should light a fire in my room.

Yeah people survived in this weather without furnaces. But people survived without computers decades ago, so why the hell are you using one?

i dont have heating or air conditioning. or winter clothes. so in the winter i just wear like 10 layers of clothes. and in the summer during heat waves we have to soak our clothes in water & then freeze them in the freezer

says the guy from balmy Pennsylvania.... hahahaha.

Come live in Saskatchewan for a winter without a furnace. I will even find a nice trapper's cabin for you off in the woods, and provide you with some flares so I can come and get you when your dick is set to freeze off and you don't remember when you last felt your toes. Saskatchewan makes Siberia look like a fun place to get a sun tan some years.

My great grandparents lived in a hollowed out hill in the middle of no where. They had 6 kids... 3 of them lived to adulthood. 2 of the 3 died a winter related death.

I usually turn the heat on for the first time towards the middle of October, but it usually gets turned off several times before staying on for good.

Haha... PA is not balmy though. It's been known to get below zero in PA quite often.

Sometime in October. It's never good enough, I'm always friggin' cold. I'll never ever ever get used to English houses being built so poorly. I'm from Finland and all my friends look at me funny when I complain about it being cold here but it's so totally different back home.. at least there the heat doesn't escape through the windows after about two minutes, grrrr.

I usually turn mine on in late Sept/early October.. I have the heat on but will sleep with my fan on high, blowing on my body, every single night even during the middle of winter. I can't sleep without my fan.. Maybe that's why I get sick every year. Hmm

living in the deep south, i use rarely use heat. only when i feel it is necessary. as a rule of thumb, when the temp borders 40 f.

living here, it can be 80 any time of the year. therefore, you cannot assign a specific time frame to the use of heat.
