Here's some more pics, the first one was taken when I just started working out about 2 1/2 years ago... and the others are more recent, the oldest is about 6 months ago. Oh, and sorry for the corny-ass pose in the third pic, I was pretending to be hardcore and failing miserably at it! lol :]

Just evidence that after 40 doesn't necessarily mean you're going to hell in a handbasket.

I'm an alcoholic, and I made the decision a couple years back to quit drinking. After that it was more or less a natural progression of events, I started eating healthier, exercising, and got back into school. Without alcohol holding me down I was amazed at the accomplishments I was able to acheive, so I just kept pushing harder and harder to see how far I could go, and I haven't slowed down yet!

    Very cool!

I've never been an alcoholic, but i do know what it feels like to start taking your life back into your own hands, or at least i'm starting to...

In a couple years maybe i'll be inspiring someone else.

I gotta go (i'm at work, so maybe i should start doing some), i'll catch you all later.

Very skinny... in fact I didn't start putting on weight until a little over three years ago- about the time I put down weed indefinitely and got serious about lifting. My approach is mainly maintenance at this point- maximizing lean body mass and building a de facto insurance policy against injury... Fitness is the biggest contribution I'm making toward my retirement and will hopefully pay off better than any pension or 401k because it'll enable me to remain productive at something I like. It's a lifestyle choice as opposed to a route to physical transformation.

Awww, but I likes them scrawny...

Not attempting to completely throw anyone off course here, but remember, there are still ladies who appreciate a less-than-perfect physique.

Hey, everybody's gotta start somewhere. Another word of advice, I don't know if you plan on getting a gym membership or working out in public, but when you're just starting out, do NOT let yourself feel intimidated by other guys in the gym that might be bigger than you or that are able to bench more than you. They all started at the same place you are. When I see someone in the gym that is obviously just starting out, I'm not thinking "what the hell is this twig doing in the gym, he's TINY!" (that's what I thought other people were thinking when I just started out), I'm thinking "man, I hope he actually sticks with it". I've seen it all too often, new kids coming into the gym just starting out, they last a couple weeks and they either get intimidated, or they're wondering why (after working out 3 times a week for 4 weeks) they don't look like the guy over there benching 225? Either way, I never see them again, and it's disappointing. Don't worry about anyone else but yourself, that's who you're there for and that's all that should matter.

Nothing at all wrong with having your own preferences. My reasonings are entirely personal. I'd rather be accepted for who I am than go to the trouble of transforming myself to fit another person's tastes. It's something along the lines of rather being disliked for what I am than loved for something I'm not.

Trust me, I don't do it for the ladies (or the fellas for that matter, let's just make that clear! lol), I was scrawny when I met my wife, she was attracted to me just as much then as she is now. It's kinda hard to explain my motives for working out, but it mainly has to do with just maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Basically it's not for anybody other than myself, although I must admit, when I go back home for the holidays it's pretty cool to be bigger than my three brothers and be able to whoop on them all at the same time! hahahaha :p

Ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding!!!!!

Anyone who's going to judge you because you don't "measure up" reveals shallow character- exactly how important is the opinion of such a person.

Side note: bench numbers are grossly over rated. Bench press is largely a tricep (back of arm) exercise with the pecs playing a supporting role. Overall fitness includes legs and back as well as cardio.
