Hey to all out there ! I'm new to this sight but love what i've seen and read so far. What a farout group of individuals! I'm Grandpa Hippy and the name says it all. Im an old hippy and a grandpa this year...twice ! To all of you who were at woodstock and are still around; congrats ! It's been a long trip from then. And to all of you too young for the experience, but embracing the culture and mindset of the Hippy Movement of the sixties and early seventies....more power to you ! It's all good ! I'm planning a trip this next summer back to where it all began. No, not Haight Ashbury....Woodstock. Or at least the place where it all happened. I have the VeeDub bus that I went in (It belonged to my cousin then) I drove it until it caught fire in the late 70's and have been storing it ever since. I have a new engine to put in it this winter and next summer it will be off to New York. A new summer of love.....or at the very least a long weekend of love ! I had an idea to do something that might give a little honor to us all. Anyone that would like me to put their name on the van, let me know. Old and new hippys alike ! There is plenty of room in and around the old peace signs and flowers to paint names on the bus. Then anyone that didn't get the opportunity to go to woodstock can say they have been....and it was a good trip ! Hope to hear from everyone and thanks for letting me get involved here ! PEACE AND LOVE to all !

Welcome to the forums, gh. It's always good to hear fom the orginal hippies on here. I'm a pretty good mechanic, so if you need help putting that engine in the VW, I'd be glad to pitch in. And I wish you good luck with your trip.

My real name is Brian Trimble, feel free to put my name on the van if you'd like. Having my name on a hippie van would be cool.

Hey there grandpa well this here is a grandma hippie. I didn't get to go to Woodstock. My brother and his friends all went. They had a band but I can't recall if they got to play. Or what they called themselves. It was Jimmy and Jeannette Riley, Carol Riley, Kenny Waugh (my bro)
and a dude the last name of Owings. Anyhow, first they said you gotta pay your own way and for a kid back then $100 bucks was a fortune. I got it promised to me through veiled threats of a loose tongue. So I was going, then my mom hemhawwed around and was just about to let me go. When my brother the stupid jerk, said "But mom she'll be good company for Stephanie. Old man Riley is taking her along." Well, thanks to his big mouth I had to stay home and dream. My mom had decided Stephanie was a bad influence on me. And didn't want us to hang out together. Truth be told it was the other way around. I had the brains but no spunk to carry out the mischief. Stephanie had all the spunk and derring-do for the both of us. A very bad combo. Both of us at Woodstock?! We would have had a blast and Woodstock would have been even wilder. So please if you put my name on your bus I would be greatly honored. Please sign it "the Cricket" with a flourish underneath or "cricket shadowolf" I used to be known just as "the Cricket" but with so many other ones with the same nickname I added my other nickname to it to make it more unique. Have fun at woodstock and do visit sister Susun Weed while you are in the neighborhood. I have never met her in person but have studied under her teachings as an herbalist for many years.

Peace and Love, cricketlind aka cricket shadowolf

    You bet!
The Woodstock site is about 45 Mins from me and I will give you a tour. Also-there are tons of good spots to park the bus with hook ups all over the area here. Woodstock the Art Colony and Village is right in The Catskill Forest and that has camping.
Or we can hook ya up with my rainbow Buddies right in town.
I will give ya a CD with all the pics so you can do what you want with them. Peace The Wiz

Cricket- Great to hear from you ! Nice to hear a tale or two from the day ! Too bad though you didn't get to Woodstock. My Mom and Dad didn't know I was there until it was all over ! They were out of town and my Grandma was stayin at the house. My cousin came by and asked if I wanted to come to his house and spend a night or two. I said sure. When we got outside in the bus, he added that the night or two was going to be at Woodstock ! Farout !!! Needless to say; I didn't hesitate. A quick story from There if you have a sec. Before we saw Jimi play, we decided to go to the arts fair there on the grounds. Pic up some tye dye, that sort of thing. I was sayin Hi and Peace to every individual looking my direction. I sort of poked my head in the opening of a tent and said hello on my way by, and the guys inside said to come on in, sit down and have some lunch. Long story short; we ate p-nut butter and jelly sandwiches with the band members from the Grateful Dead ! No Joke ! No Jerry Garcia though. He was off doing his own thing at the time. Well hey, I hope to hear from you again. Peace and Love ! Grandpa Hippy

Elliott, Man that would be great! I would be honored to have my name on the ambulance. That would be a groovin thing...to travel with you on your journeys in a manner of speaking. I have to ask you something though. What kind/year ambulance is it that you have? My reason for asking is because I dig vehicles like that. I have to confess that one of the things I like doing most is a little bit of "automotive restoration".......on hearses ! Yes, I said hearses. I'm not into that whole death scene sort of thing. Please don't get me wrong. But have you ever seen a hearse painted up with flowers and peace signs and the like ? It's far out! Its taking something that was more than a little depressing and dark and putting some light to it. Anyway, I will be honored to have my name on the ambulance. Sorry if I got a little long winded. Peace and Love! Grandpa Hippy
