ditto whoever says one more negative thing in this thread, i'm gonna fuck up the ass and the only lubrication you get is when you start to bleed and then i'm gonna make you lick the shit off my dick
you can't have laws that discriminate if you are trying to teach your people not to discriminate. I understand your concerns, you fear things would just go back to the way they were, we've learned, we've changed. some of the laws make sense, you should not be able to not hire people based upon their skin but that doesn't mean you should have to hire people based upon their skin either. I don't wanna do away with all of the equal rights laws, just the ones that aren't really equal...
Its not ok to call someone white, but it happens to me all the time. I worked in an Aboriginal organization in the inner city and was called "the white bitch" for some time. It's in quotes because they are not words I would normally use. I was also called "the funny looking white girl" at a neighborhood pub for years.... by my pool partners! I apologize that I do not know all Afican history... can you tell me some Dutch history? My dad is Dutch. As for respect and correctness .... hmmm I guess for me its like calling a person an Indian if they are not from India ... that is disrespectful. I would like to avoid that type of error on MY part. .... as I am speaking from MY point of view. Out of respect for someone's culture we don't label as them BLACK or WHITE because that is not an accurate description or POLITICALLY CORRECT. labels are for canned goods.
so my friend, when i asked him his ethnic background, said to me "i'm a greaser." i'm like "what the fuck is that?" i guess it's an insult for half mexican, half native. who knew? anyway, he's the one who preferred i just call him indian. there's a lot like that in the four corners area. they tend to be of an unpolitical bent. still just as proud, just don't give a fuck what people call them.
I here all this shit about labelling.. what is a name? AFRICAN AMERICAN is a label! there is nothing wrong with labelling, it's how our minds work you will find this true in any culture, any language why are we so hung up on what people call us? on what other people think of us? we all need to stop being so fucking insecure.
i think we should just refer to others as the actual color of there skin....like some look like caramel, some look like mocoa....dark chocolate, orange for the people who tan way too much, cream, you get the idea.....that'd be cool be like "yo whats up caramel" word
I use black because it is more appropos for reffering to someones ethnicity, then a continental with a nation. If someone really wanted to be called african american I might call them that, but it has a lot less brevity, and I'm a buzy man. I don't refer to ethnicity often unless I'm physically describing someone anyway. Usually the only time I do that is if I'm filling a police report. Damned shifty canadians. irate:
this issue gets even more complicated if one of the parents is black and the other is white... should the children be considered white, black or zebra? ... as we are now discussing in music reggae section about bob marley
Was that directed towards me? If so it is fairly ignorant of you to say that as you know jack shit about me and my intellect. And I'm pretty sure your name isn't Nostradamus so I doubt you can tell me how smart I'll be in ten years. So fuck off.
African American is a label. Sorry to inform you. Re. Dutch history, you would want to connect with someone who is Dutch, I am South African and know nothing of Dutch history. Why is it not OK to call someone WHITE???? This excessive Political Correctness really gets me down because it's nothing more than an hypocrisy! An African is someone who is BORN IN AFRICA An American is someone who is BORN IN AMERICA And so on....
I also liked them. And I also agree with Lodui.. the only time I ever use labels like "black or white" is in conversations like "I was talking to this guy earlier"- and then someone might say something like "describe him.... black dude, white dude, tall, short?" Terms are simple, used to describe looks only and Ive never seen anyone get offended.... but if people just wanna go and make things more complicated... well.... people like to do that so whatever.
I think it's a stupid generic term. I don't know anyone from Africa. I do, however, know people from Trinidad and Jamaica.
I will catch shit for this but when ya say that dang ****** down the way ran over my chicken, there is no doubt that the person that run over my chicken was a black man, afro-american or whatever term. In the past few years ive actually stopped using the word ****** cause of all the issues it brings up and when I use it 99.9 percent of the time its not meant to cause problems (as fucked up as it is, its just a reference term) but the mainstream world has changed or maybe it hasnt, I think when ****** is used it reflects on a bad time period for blacks when they were shipped as slaves and termed niggers. And them times are over and it would upset me also. SO I have learned ****** is not correct in the mainstream world, but you still have the serious haters in the world. So if blacks want to be called afro-americans great, black makes it alot more simple to me but what ever works. I just say im a american, I dont have to break it down to im 1/16 indian, 1/64 irish, 1/128 german street whore....to come up with somthing that equals 1. I see what kramer did as being so far out of line he should of been shot, lucky for him it was a top notch club, in atlanta hed not of made it to his car.
