My mom made this awsome curtins/valinces for my bedroom yesterday. I got some cloth from Wal*Mart and she sewed it together. The cloth was blue with an oriental theme and silky. Anyway, she had a lot of issue sewing on this silky cloth. Anyone know any good tips for sewing on silk?

I buy colorful indian/indonesian sarongs to use for curtains. They have fringe on both ends, so I tie the fringe together on the top end to make loops for the rod. ...And in Massachusetts, since they are sold as clothing, I don't have to pay tax!

That is a great idea, Zajko.
As for silky fabrics, I really hate to sew with them. A ball-point needle helps and lots of pins. I just try to avoid it. :)

my mom uses tissue paper pinned to slick fabrics. It tears away afterward.

Zajko, could you post a pic? I would love to see what you're talking about. And yes, I have worked for a company that used the same sort of techniques as your mom, drumminmama, when sewing delicate fabrics...and sometimes even when doing the sturdy ones.

So today we finished making the pillows that match the curtains. I'll post some pictures soon. The pillows came out great.
