Hippy.com in class?!

In one of my classes we are looking at the effect writers have had on different decades in the last 100 years. Yesterday we took a look at the sixties and my professor told us that she wanted us to do some in class research. She said that she found a wonderful site that we would be looking at. When she pulled up www.hippy.com I was smiling so hard that my face almost broke. I just wanted to share that little part of my day with the community....hooray for us!

ahh ya know i was just thinkin id like to read skips book sometime but bein a broke ass hippy couldnt afford to anytime soon then saw its sold out so hes got it here free

Actually, I think it might be the references to Sex. Whilst in the Hippy sense of the word it is nothing offensive, most adult filters would pick up on that. They certainly did when I tried accessing this site at my old school. Curiously, I could still access the forums by going to Hip Planet, and then following the links....

Jesus, I wish I would have had the chance to visit here as a class lesson.
All's we had was filmstrips, and 16mm movies. My point, don't lose the sex forums, but you already use age limits, and the permission slip system. (Forgot the name)
Are schools asking? Or maybe some teacher already doing it?

matt, if you would like to get together to do classroom presentations on the hippy way, let me know... i know we couldn't do drug stuff like showing how to roll a joint etc but instead just focus on progressive hippy values and history how we were the first ones to recycle and the first to people to accept blacks and jews as people... maybe skip might even be interested in underwriting this endeavor with his book revenues and so we could intern interest the students we do the presentation to, in skip's book... a quid pro quo

Well, I know the forums are blocked at my school, but it's not just this one. its forums in general. chat sites too.

 

same at my school.

also anything to do with astrology, anything occult, obviously anything to do with drugs, or sex, and pretty much everything that the hipforums embodies is blocked.
