I'm thinking about ordering one of those ready to go kits. I've tried growing mushrooms with a grow box and a spore syringe with some success, but these ready to go ones sound a lot better to me.

    Is anyone here from ireland?

Has anyone ordered a kit and had it confiscated by irish customs ?

I'm a bit anxious about the odds. Seems to me it would more likely be checked with a dutch postmark, and all of these companies seem to be holland based.

The kits you are talking about are definetely illegal due to the fact that they contain mycellium which in turn contains actives.

The law was changed earlier this year so they're illegal in all forms now. :(

I've never imported a grow kit before but I would think they would disguise it quite well. I don't know if I'd take the risk, though.

Man, you're on the other side of the pond, I just read an article yesterday or the day before that was talking about how somewhere in the UK there are little shops that sell fresh mushies, limit of 35 grams per dose per person.

yeah but i don't know if that's totally up to date - most if not all uk mushie websites have completely suspended trading including domestically "while awaiting clarification" of the law . i would imagine that goes for the shops as well, although i could be wrong. The uk, and ireland even more so, were great places for mushrooms until 05/06, when a couple of incidents which ALLEGEDLY were caused by mushrooms were heavily publicised. In ireland, a guy was tragically killed when he went off a roof - if you research the story, the link with mushrooms is tenuous, to say the least, as he is reported to have died within half an hour or so if taking them. Not something i would consider possible. The poor guy must have had a panic attack, or there must have been other factors. the quantity he is reported to have taken was LESS than what we would consider an average dose.

However that didn't stop our ridiculously reactionary and populist government from getting the law changed WITHIN THREE WEEKS of the incident to criminalise fresh mushrooms. Apparently they CAN do things quickly....

Such an ill-researched knee-jerk reaction. It sickens me. The guy was apparently drunk too, but they ignore that.

Hey man. I'm from Ireland and they still sell spore kits in my local headshop! €70 for the spores and the grow box.

Where d'you live bushbaby? I'm in the Southeast.

i live in dublin - yeah i can get those too, same price, but they're a bit prone to infections - the other ones that come all together sound a lot less labour intensive and vulnerable
