On my last visit to my hometown (Melbourne Victoria) the number of barefoot people was sadly lacking. I did notice that the types of footwear that were being worn was really not suitable for comfort (if footwear does give comfort that is). Women wearing those bloody stilleto (spell?) shoes that they had to cram their feet into, men wearing pointed toe shoes and children with their feet encased in some unbreathable runner! My friend's mother was one who wore the stilleto for her work and after being on her feet for 8 hours would complain that her feet hurt! Duh!!! I asked her why she had to wear them and was told that it was stylish and it gave a sophisticated look to her work. In other words her company stated it. Ok, here's a question for comment. Does Society (for those unfortunate enough to live in a non-barefoot friendly area) have the right to virtually cripple peoples' feet and giving them pain whenever they walk or have to stand for a long time? This could be deemed as a form of torture! Maybe I'm wrong but have a think about it. Avagoodone! ps. I just realised that I haven't put my first name in any posts! Sorry....G'day I'm Rob.
I think that all of the companies that require high heel shoes should be required to pay for all the medical expenses for treatment of the foot, leg, and back disorders that result from it. They would quickly change their rules regarding shoes. High heels also cause back problems. They cause the hips to move foward and the shoulders backward, which sets one's posture out of alignment. It's yet another example of something that doesn't make sense in society, yet people go along with it because 'rules are rules'.
quite! Actually all the shoes I own fit fine. They are not uncomfortable per se. What's uncomfortble is the heat generated by my feet that builds up and can't escape. You'd NEVER catch me wearing unconfortable shoes.
