I bought this car a while back and while im in the process of buiding a bit better motor ive been playing with the current one, head and cam wise. Ive known its pretty quick but never knew how quick. I just got one of those belltronics vf2 performane units which are rated to be within .0001 of reg drag strip trees. 0-60 mph 3.9 sec quarter mile 11.2 which is far better than the new vet or viper so even with this motor combo im still safe and ive not seen too many fast cars in this town. This was my first run with mild wheel spin the second and third was way too much wheel spin, ive got comp street drag slicks but im finding out there are a better set of street cheeter slick Im running a two stage box on my rev limiter, 4200 for burn out and launch and 7400 max rpm. I did these tests just from a reg launch, not against the line lock and 4200 chip so these time will improve a good bit. To most this will make no sense but it will to some. And for the clueless, this is a bracket car just made for the street, 0-60 in 3.9 with wheelspin is awsome but ive mopar super stock springs as well as a solid pinion snubber, since my new motor willbe good to 8500 rpm im going from the 4:10 posi to the 5:13 gears with a spool soo things should get alot better if I can hook.
My ford ranger will do 0-60 8.03 minutes, and will probably top out at 80 mph! Now that quick! wanna race for pink slips?
I don't know anything about cars but...look at these speeds.. http://www.qsl.net/n5mya/testdata.html Tiger
I have a 06 v8 mustang as a rental car right now (long story) and it is freaking fast...I can't use all of it's start up power because I haven't driven a stick in so long but it's fun as hell. My car (hopefully still my car if they can fix the front end) is a v6 mustang and it's kinda deficient in power, well not really power but because it's a 02 body it fishtails A LOT and I can't drive that fast without thinking I'm going to lose control. I love this baby that the dealer loaned me though...I know why they did it too...evil bastards...just when I was in the not getting anything, loving having mine paid off mode.
i definately drive my dads 96 ford taurus faster than i should shit, i push 50 mph down side streets here
Hey peace keeper what year is your car? I'm guessing it's the one in the picture, very nice I've never run my car on a drag strip but I believe it's good for about 14-15 sec at 100ish mph, based on specs I've seen for stock cars (mine is lightly modded). I do know that in 1st and 2nd gear it can smoke some bigger cars off the line because of the mid engined weight hooking up the tires really fast, but 2nd gear ends at 60 mph and above that a car like yours would destroy me in a straight line... Still not bad for a 1.6L 4cyl and 50+ hiway mpg (Canadian gallons) driving like a grandma on a Sunday afternoon Cornering is a whole other story, the great equalizer... mine is set up for handling more than straight line speed so it's much faster on a road course or autocross cones than a drag car would be. Also I don't have any fancy gear like a line locker or 2 stage rev limiter, just 7800 redline, 3 pedals, 5 gears, street legal performance rubber, everything street legal as I drive it daily in the summer. And I actually obey the traffic laws too believe it or not... that's why they build racetracks
I do know that in 1st and 2nd gear it can smoke some bigger cars off the line because of the mid engined weight hooking up the tires really fast, but 2nd gear ends at 60 mph and above that a car like yours would destroy me in a straight line... Ok my 60 ft times are in the 1.6 range and 0-60 on 3.9, I run goodyear comp ta street drag radials 275/50/15 11 inches of tread hits on each, It hooks pretty good but I think 2 tenths could be picked up. I dont think much could even touch me out of the hole with these times, ive the mopar performance super stock drag springs on the rear and a pinion snubber set tight. In reality my car is a bracket race car that been kept on the line of being streetable, so I dont expect much to equal it. As far as how does it handle, its got a 8 point cage, solid body mounts, poly susp parts in every spot, 60 series radial ta`s on the front, it handles very well. I cant wait for my new engine, ( Ijust got to put it together)my current one is everyday 440 hp, my new on will be almost 600 everyday hp that will need little upkeep but dont be fooled so far my everyday 600 hp is a bit over $9000 in parts so ive learned you can tweak alot of factory parts for 400 or so hp but you go to a whole diff level money wise for big power. Ive alot of pidc in my gallery, im gonna take some pics from the vf2 timer and also post.
Sorry I should have been more specific, I can't touch a highly modified drag car or anything with 4 times the hp, but street legal cars with smaller engines like v6 Impalas for example... of course small FWD cars like Civics etc but that's a no brainer... not like I can destroy an Impala either but give it a good run... Out of curiosity do you do any road racing (as in road courses) or just drag racing? If you have the roll cage, suspension mods and huge tires that would probably be quite fun to drive on a twisty track Sorry if I sounded like I was saying my car could smoke yours because that's not exactly what I meant, that wouldn't happen unless you blew your engine oslt
My car has some pep, I have gotten it up to about 110 mph, 0-60 in 7.6 seconds 3,498 cc 3.5 liters V 6 front engine with 95.5 mm bore, 81.4 mm stroke, 10.3 compression ratio, double overhead cam, variable valve timing/camshaft and four valves per cylinder VQ35DE Multi-point injection fuel system, Power: 183 kW , 245 HP SAE @ 5,800 rpm; 246 ft lb , 334 Nm @ 4,400 rpm
My prior project a 1984 twin stick turbo colt was cool as fuck, 1880 pounds, two door ecno box with a high and low selector on the trans makin it actually a 8 speed trans if you could shift it right. Fun car, it was the org import turbo car from dodge, made by miti... Ended up putting starion injectors in it and a fish valve on the wastegate to get 12 pounds of boost. 1600 cc with 10 psi boost run well in a 1900 pound car, good for a front wheel drive import, I run it at a drag strip in washington state and pulled a 13.2 with alot of tire spin. This lil car surprised many and still got 31 mpg.
The VQ35DE base engine is used in many aps, detuned and de stroked for alot of the lower performance models.....good thinking on the casting department.
