My buddy is growing some mushies at the moment, but he's worried that his mycelial development has been stunted and is slowing to a halt. What sort of time periods should he be looking for? He says the cakes are 50-60% covered at the moment,is there ever a slowing effect when they begin to get completely covered? What sort of coverage does he need for fruiting? He insists on 95%+..

    Anyway,any help would be cosmic.

2-4 weeks now. I'm not completely sure,he was pretty vague. The conditions are pretty good I believe, though he's had to guess temperatures and stuff. Not ideal though.. I'll find out if he has any means of testing humidity and what tem. they're at... 85 fahreheit is roughly what you want,am I wrong?

maybe the mycelium is fighting contamination, slowing its growth, Hopefully it will win.

He should wait until they are 100 colonized...or he could take a piece of mycelium to make a syringe but thats kind of tricky,

He could use the jars to spawn a larger quantity of substrate , but if theres contam already in the jars , for get it .

make sure their is no tape over the jar holes, that way the mycelium can breathe. 80-86 is optimal colonizing temp range. wait til they are 100%, dunk in a fridge for a day then roll in verm or coir and throw in the FC :D

Cheers! He reckons they're contaminated but is gonna let them be for another while and see what happens.

Best way to tell if they're contaminated is apparently to look for strange colors in the jars, if there seems to be conflicting mold colors than you have contamination, apparently the colors should be white to pale yellow.

I'm growing as well, done much reading on www.magic-mushrooms.net and erowid.

if they are contam'd dont throw them away...check out the shroomery for some outdoor growing techniques...quite often contam'd jars will fruit in these conditions...its better than just getting rid...
