well, i have a question do you actually see the gods/goddeses or what? i mean do you just believe in them, or feel they're presence or what? not intended in a smart ass way, but really tell me.
It's difficult to describe everything in a forum. I also will not explain particulars since experiences are personal and can't really be translated in text very well. At least I have difficulty. In my past I was in a Afro/Cuban system. It has similar roots to Voodoo, but it's quite different and a lot more structured. So, like I said I have seen all of the above, except I have not seen a physical manifestation. This system has several opportunities for things to happen: We had seances almost weekly. I did this for about 15 years, so I have seen possessions, things moving, sounds, and so on. Initiations are very long and complicated. They take a week. There is a part where a particular deity depending on the person getting initiated is called down. My experience was pretty dramatic. I can't go into specifics since this part is pretty guarded, but I know something was with me that wasn't me. There is a realatively public ritual where a particular deity is called down to possess someone. I have seen this over a dozen times. It's different each time and depends on the deity. It can be dramatic. I have had experiences where I blacked out during rituals and did things I don't remember. That's very cool when it happens. It's like I was doing whatever, and then I looked up and everyone was looking at me. No time passed from my perspective, and people started telling me about things I was doing. A ritual works when all of the people are of one mind, and the person doing the ritual knows every aspect of it. Unfortunately most people don't have this kind of knowledge, so consequently most people never have an experience, so they think it's bullshit. You can't force it either and it may take years and years until you develop your senses to be able to accept things. It took me about 10 years.
That's some very interesting stuff. I haven't seen it first hand but have watch documentaries on the Voodun rituals.
Well, whenever I decided to be more specific on a diety, once upon a time ago, I decided to honor Hecate, and let me tell you, all I did was cry! I felt depressive. Hecate, to me, is a goddess moreso focalized on digger deeper into the darkness of oneself. And I'm all about looking deeper, but I didn't even notice it when I wanted to dye my hair darker, I was wearing more black, ect. This sometimes depends on the changing of the seasons for me anyway, though. I feel whomever you honor or worship, you will take on the qualities and lessons of that particular diety. My view on diety is that "God" is everyone, everywhere, and in our minds we create forms of this vast energy, whatever you wish to call God, and through these forms we gain understanding. So, I feel I'm connected moreso to the goddess. Rarely do I acknowledge a God, it's unbalanced, I am aware. Anyway, those are my thoughts, Wildflowerlove
Well I have witnessed Invocation rituals, my very first one was when the High Priestess invoked Hecate, it was truly magickal.
