I can't even listen to thier music now without feeling sad, like something is missing. I know it hasn't even been a week but, c'mon guys, you KNOW you wanna get back together... =(
I'll never get to see them again. well maybe I will! They'll start runnin low on cash sooner or later and do a reunion tour. Until then lets get Cheeeeeeeeeeeeesy! Woohoo! Nothing like an Inicident.
good to see some other people recognize this, started happening back in 97' and built to this, its a shame.
anyone who disagrees with the phish breakup doesnt know whats going on... its the best thing, there are much worse reasons for a breakup... after coventry i feel totally at peace with phish and my life. I really hope they dont get back together for a nostalgia act, 100% focus or none... Trey band is fresh and trey needs to get his music out. They will forever be THE band. -chris "pharewell boys!"
I agree with it and I do know what's going on. Fame got to Trey's head and he started to become an asshole much the same as Sting did with the Police. This started happening a LONG time ago, really around 95, though it wasn't obvious until 97/98. I agree whole-heartedly with the break-up, its just a shame that Trey's brilliance had a great deal to do with how great they were, yet his ego is what ultimately caused the end.
It's very ironic considering I read an article in Guitar Player only a year ago where Trey was talking about how you have to let go of your ego, then the true music can shine through. Guess he can't practice what he preaches.
Its not his fault that with phish he cannot mature musically... it was like a rut for him, though i have never been in that sort of situation i can totally see that being a problem for someone of his genius, needing to express what he needs to. If he cant do it with phish , there poses a problem... he needs to go somewhere else to get it out... then there isnt 100% focus on phish , which means he will be very sloppy on his very critical, tight , and overwhelming compositions, thus a less quality experience for phish and its fans. Abuse of both would occur through flubs if it were to continue. Believe me , flubs dont hurt just the fans... I might have a different point of view because im one of those 100% phish fans and i could live everyday not listening to anything but the shows throughout the years, completely obsessed.(not to say i do that, i love other music also, but nothing comes close, and by saying that i hope this thread doesnt turn into GD vs. phish) PEACE and LOVE -chris "Pharewell Boys!"
Despite Trey being much more talented than any of the other band members of Phish, he will not find another group of people that can sync with him or come close to his talents........He should have stayed right where he was. As sad/angry as I am about the breakup, I hope Page goes far with Vida Blue, they are a great band.
Ok this is the 3rd time phish has "called it quites" and treys not the reason they stopped...Id much rather see Trey band anyway...
Trey reminds me of a teenage boy who wants to experiment with a whole bunch of girls before commiting to just one...just to see. He's searching for something that's been in front of him the whole time.
im glad there over. and i hope they dont come back either. they're not that great & i really can't figure out what all the hype about them is. all of there songs sound exactly the same... but for all the hardcore-phish fans, dont worry... give it a few years and phish will come back on tour & you can go waste $150+ on a ticket...
Yeah 20+ years is commited...but Trey is still searching for something... Sugarbear I hope you're right. However I wouldn't call it a waste of $150.
buying phish tickets was the worst 80 bucks i've ever spent. we should of sold our tickets and spent the money on buying some special items in the lot... haha
Snorting coke on stage at Coventy? That spells REHAB. They'll probably get back together in two years.
