i have this bag that has a little pocket in the bottom (not on the side, but on the actual bottom of the bag that goes horizontally) and it blends in with the bag perfectly....great place to hide things :p

yeah sewing machines rock... unless you have nothing to sew!! which sucks when you've got shitloads of ideas!

i think people should start donating fabric to me...

You should check out thrift stores and "free boxes," etc. I've found some great things in both my local thrift store (including a few yards-long!!! pieces of cool-ass psychedelic prints, as well as regular stuff) and the donations box in my apartment's laundry room. It's easy to cannibalize old clothes, especially if you're into patchwork (which I, unfortunately, am not, so I have to alter and resize old clothes, but I'm small, so it's not as hard as it could be), and thrift stores usually have cool sheets, and even bits of cool fabric if you look closely. I once found a half bolt (at least 5 yards) of 100% wool for $3--and it was a really cool color! you wouldn't believe the things people throw out...

but, actually, if you want some fabric, I might be able to send you some (trying to clean out my closet...I've been hoarding scraps for years and it's starting to catch up with me)...are you into patchwork? let me know...I might even have a pattern or two if you're near my size (6-8-10 in standard patterns). I have kind of eclectic taste, and a lot of my larger pieces have ideas attached to them (so many ideas, so little time!), but I'm sure I have something that I can give you that you might want...it would stink to send you something that you didn't like...so let me know.

    peace out,
    alyce
