I wanted to know, how do you determine what size of pot to get and what's better; round, or square? Clay or Plastic? Does the size of the pot determine the size of the plant? If, so what is the best size pot to get?
Square planters are probably the best. They provide less dead air space between planters than round ones. Planter size does determine how big (and how fast) the plant grows. Indoors, most growers keep their plants short. From seed you'll want to grow them long enough so they attain sexual maturity before you induce flowering. That usually takes 3--5 weeks. Depending on growing conditions that means the plant will be up to 18" tall before it's ready to flower. You'll want 2 gal. planters. Put a layer of rocks in the bottom to provide good drainage before adding quality potting soil. Avoid pre-fertilized soil (no miracle grow products of any kind). I don't think the composition of the planters matters much as long as it's inert and clean.
A good idea for wht size to use is think one gallon for each foot of plant. Round or square or bags, that's all up to personal preferance. I prefer square pots for the most part, but it would really depend on how much free space you have in your grow area and how many plants.
it really doesnt matter what kind of pot you use.....it just has to hold the roots and there has to be holes in the bottom of your pot. thats it
