wat do u think could be improved about rainbow..i think it might b one of the near perfect things out there...but i suppose like anything it could b better, wat needs to change...besides tha fall of babylon and no more drainbows and all that

 

get rid of alcohol at main circle, well the whole gathering in general & no tweeking...

no weapons

no tweakin? in general or just at the gathering cause im fam and i like to tweak i dont do it all the time but i do like it dont do it a ''home''(u know the gathering) but tweakin can be fun

 

i for one like to drink some wine myself, but have never drank at a gathering, but have also never attributed any behaviour that people condemn alcohol for, its actually one of the few ways for me to get over intense anxiety i get...i think we all need to b more accepting about alcohol at gatherings

 

More "experienced" rainbows need to put more energy into acting as teachers to the "newbies", so that things run smoother and there is less "drainbow" influence of folks who just don't know any better...

 

Seconding Earthmother's suggestion & adding more early participation. Be involved...it's Everybody's Gathering & Somebody has to do the early work like scouting.

 

Excuse you, but the rainbow gathering is not about a drinking party in the woods. Rainbow = higher concious, alcohol = lower concious. That's why A-camp was created. Ya can't get completely rid of it, so ya make a space for it to be, sort of out of the way like, so the majority who don't wish to be at a drinkin' party don't have to. It's about respect. Anyhoo, lots of folks keep a little nip in a flask or something and drink it anywhere they like. The deal is to keep it very low key and not obvious. Openly consuming alcohol at gatherings, has NEVER been well accepted. It ruins the whole vibe. And drunks tend to be annoying, and throw their bottles and cans around. Lots of folks don't want to be bothered and have their sweet time ruined. I've seen more beer cans and bottles out in the open recently at gatherings than ever before, it looks shitty, gives us a bad rep. That's one of the things I was talking about when I said we needed more folks to educate others. If we just allow it, then pretty soon more and more are doing it, and pretty soon it's no longer a rainbow gathering, but just a drinkers party. Well, if ya wanna drink in the woods, there is plenty of woods out there without having to be bothersome. Keep it in it's place and no problem. Same with anything. No problem is no problem. Shove something in peoples faces that they don't like, problem. People go to rainbow EXPECTING to not have to be bothered with all that. Otherwise, they'd just go to the bar.

 

yeah we need to stop telling people what they should or should not do because isn't that going against what Rainbow is? Isn't it being very judgemental if you say that there should be no alcohol because some people can't handle themselves? That's stereotyping in my book. Also, by creating "A-camp" isn't that going against the whole concept of unity? Some may say it's to protect the children, well keep your eyes on your children! That's another problem. At nationals this year I was camping kinda close to a cliff. Well I saw this little boy who had to be 2 or something walking around by the cliff. His mama or papa were not around. People need to watch their children more not only because of things like this, but also we need to realize that there is always a chance that child molesters may be lingering around Rainbow.

who said i was making anyone elses time unpleasant? i keep to my self and barely leave my camp exuse me. prety steroe typical if ya ask me. sure some people cant drink with out being a pain i the ass, but alot can. when im home i like to drink and not all ways up front. some dont some do. i make it a point not to be a neusance and i do regulate drunk idiots in rainbowland, so before ya jump the gun on me think about how many people youve seen do crazy stupid shit trippin or something else along that line. its not about a drinking party, its about enjying yourself when your home the way you like to not the way someone else wants you to

 

how can u generalize like that though...perhaps there have been problems in the past with drinking but thats no reason to condemn reasonable people...drinking and littering are not one in the same thing, and for being obnoxious and annoying, so wat, accept someone for who they r, if ure not enjoying the person being around, well, thats normal, people dont like other people, it happens....just because more "experienced" rainbows have a problem with drinking, doesnt mean they have anything to teach concerning it, people r going to think for themselves and any attempt to stop people from thinking and just blindly accepting ure views is, in my opinion, not very rainbow...im sure the forestry service would love to keep all, rainbows "in their place", i.e. out of the forests entirely, but we can think and act for ourselves, and know we are responsible enough not to do damage to the forest....all im saying is that nobody, especially not peope who u call brothers and sisters should have to hide something that they dont believe is wrong
