The 7/30/03 Scents was much better. I hate how they skipped the trippy intro on their last summer tour.

i listened to the 7/30/03 one, awesome, but not better. i think they got way more out there in the 04 one....and i also miss the intro, i hope they bring it back.....i was lucky to get a few of those live in 03....

 

I'll give the 8/12 one another listen. I was there and felt the magic of the whole show. Have you listened to that YEM>Ghost>Maze>Catapult>Maze? God damn, it's smoking.

i was at both shows, and comparing the placement of the scents, i like 7/30 better; but i'll listen to it now.

 

the actual start to the 8/12 scents is pretty rough, but the end and the jam is what its all about...

I'm downloading part 3 of 4 now (because I heard so much about the 7.30 Scents!). I could have ordered it from livephish, but I figured since this was one song, I'll isten and get the whole show later. anyhow, thanks for posting this -- unless the whole thing is a phishing scam (pun fully intended), in which case, bollocks to you for being an arse!

i doubt it, though.

question: which would you consider some of the top jams in terms of pure energy? I use 6.19.04 Piper as a reference, though that one grew rather modal towards the end.

 

you like that Piper, its wicked. check out the Ghost from the Gorge 2003, holy shit. when they hit the 11 minute mark, they go into a jam that is so big, trey came up with the coolest guitar line, that i think should become a song and then these huge chords around the 14th minute shook the place and all of us to our knees...also the Mr. Completly a couple days later, an epic jam that really showed me and the world, Phish was in no way done or losing a step. they were "still having fun"....the 7/30 scents is dank, but check out the 8/12, i mean shit, it got its own post. hehe....i'm just really into the loop jams. i love them. example the "Waves" from IT, the jam is brilliant....

so, nightowl, what did you think upon a revisit to the 8/12 scents? i don't expect you to change your mind, and be all "this one destroys all others before it" but its pretty awesome, especially since it was the last one.
