I suspect the same type people would still be making fun of you. There were ass-holes then I can assure you. Although I would be remiss if I didn't ask Rob his opinion since he is from SAN FRANCISCO. Well Rob, what words of wisdom do ya have for us?

well, as much as i hate it, we do live in 2006....but im going to hold on to my love for the past....im an art histroy student, and have been a student of history for as long as i can remember. I just dont like it when people tel me that we have it good now......i really dont see that(in some ways, yes, but I think that we are culturally bleak)

I totally understand what your saying, but honestly ... 2006! :D

Think about all of the amazing technology we have today. 30 years ago people could only dream about owning a 'personal computer' ... now they are common in almost every household. The internet, need I say more? A HUGE leap for this world. I think the problem is that wih the increase in technology we have a decrease in 'cultural diversity'. Even so, I love living now.

I can't wait to expirience what the future has to offer ...

Me too! Although I like to wander in the past from time to time too, I see a lot of cool things happening now as well. Also a lot of bad things, but that really wasn't different in the past. :)
Only thing that seems a shame indeed is that a lot of people doesn't really seem to care/think about primary things like freedom, nature and peace, or at least not showing it as much like for example in the sixties.

You guys are pointing out things that are wrong now that shouldn't be!! Your last sentence, Asmodean, for example. I think it is a BIG shame......it's wrong. Yes, we have the internet and technology to make things easier, but at what cost?

    PS...the music was better then

I don't agree on the music part. The better music was just more on the radio back then than now. But I suppose that's also a matter of personal taste.

but think about the fact that during the 60s, alot of people weren't happy living then either, we may not like living now but will people be looking back on now and thinking it was just as great as we think the 60s were?

it's funny how alot of people here are looking at the 60s and seeing all the positives, but there were alot of negatives too, yet the same people (for the most part please don't jump down my throat :) ) they only see the negatives of today, this time has so many advantages too

live the life you are given, and if it's not what you're happy with, make it the life you want it to be :)

it's definitely a subject we could debate fiercely over :D

^^I am one of those you describe^^ You are very insightful and observant!

Well, dont they say that hindsight is better than foresight? I am a romantic for the past.....but have a sense of foreboding for the future....I dont like that I feel that way, but I just see more bad than good going on right now

I agree with dolly 100% I would do anything to live in the counter culture of the 60's . My mindset just seems more fit for that time then now. The fact is that it's 2006 and I can't go back. So I must embrace the time that I do live in and live it to the fullest. In the words of the great philosopher Wayne Cambel, "Live in the now!"

and P.S. the music was way better

Yeah... but two guys jamming together?

P.S. Musicianship and will never change. You just have to know what you're looking for and what you're looking at... majority of the time, spiritually, music is based on arrangement and how things are rearranged and patterned through time, cycles, just like everything else.

For some reason, the duo just blow my mind as far as their talent goes... which is why I've been whoring the crap out of them lately.

I like to whore out slightly stoopid. If you like anything to do with regge check em out. They are a lot like sublime just with a bit more marley mixed in with a bit more 2pac. My favorite music as of now.

Nice post. Brings up a thought:

People whi hate the place that they live. "I just can't wait to get out of here..." Generally these people are not any happier in their new towns. Often they just return to that town they thought they hated so much. Do you think that a lot of these people who are unhappy in 06 would actually find themselves happier in their year of choice?

I think I would be happier. Have you ever seen the movie Dazed and Confused? Everytime I watch that movie it brings back memories that I don't even have.

Yeah... I know what you mean, but 1976 still isn't 1969. That and you still have to hopefully make it through the fabulous 80s.

Haha... I find what you just said to be hilarious. Because of the whole "Bad" of the 83/84ish years.

    (and Michael Jackson).
