This is a long story. Okay, I used to be on birth control but then I ran out of pills and after I ran out of pills I didnt have a period so I took a pregnancy test which turned out negative. I went to the doctor - they gave me another pregnancy test which turned out negative. They gave me a pap smear and it only showed that I have a yeast infection. I have had a yeast infection for a long time and I have treated it several times with prescription and over the counter medicines. It wont go away. Since running out of birth control I have gained about 20 pounds that I try and try to lose. It wont go away. I havent had a period in about four months and I am constantly bloated. I am never hungry. I feel icky in general. The doctor told me to not get back on the pill and go to a gyno to check for tumors or something. I dont have an appointment till February. My mom thinks I might have parasites. I think she is crazy. Do any of you have any idea what might be wrong with me? Or do you know of anything I could do to make my period start? (A friend hit me in the stomach real hard- with no result.) Any help would be appreciated.
Need more information. What are you eating? Please describe your diet in detail including food, drink, caffiene, alcohol, tobacco, legal or illegal drug use. And please don't let people hit you any more. Thanks
I stopped taking my birth control pills once and didn't get my period also. Your situation does not sound good though. It could just be your body freaking out because of the sudden change. I don't know what fixes it though but I would try talking to different doctors and definitely getting those tests done. I hope your body goes back to normal soon!
Okay crazylegs. Normally I eat junkfood for breakfast (candy or chips or something from the vending machines at school). Or I just dont have breakfast. I am a total chocolate junkie so I eat a lot of it. I was a vegetarian for 5 years before all of this started but after I stopped having periods I craved meat and quit caring so lately I have been eating chicken and stuff (that totally grosses me out when I actually think about it). I eat school lunch usually (its mostly carbohydrate laden crap like mashed potatoes and rolls or pizza or something). I eat whatever is there at home (mostly junk) . Lately I have been trying to clean up my act (I quit eating at school and quit drinking soda and try avoiding candy- but thats just this past week). I have always been a compulsive eater. Truth be told I don't have much of an appetite, I just eat when I am bored or crave something. I almost never feel hungry even when I dont eat anything at all. About the person hitting me.. its a habit of hers. I will tell her to stop (its kind of annoying anyway). Thanks for helping.
I dont think you would be preggers yet, it may be that your body is adjusting to skipping the pills. But yeah how long were you off before you had sex?
Butterfly- Wings- I was born with anemia and have often thought that it was coming back. When I used to eat decently on a regular basis (by decent I mean healthy) I would notice that if I went a few days without salad or whatever I would get tired. I really need to go back to being vegan. Warm Handed Canadian- I had sex a few months before going off the pill and we used a condom. I kept having periods until I ran out of pills.
for the bloating, what happens if you drink gren tea (or a small amount of cafinated soda)? I'd eat something nourishing in the morning, even as sinmple as a sandwich instead or vending garbage. that's a lot of sodium and sodium can lead to water retention. do you have additional PMS symptoms? Have you tired and OTC pms drug that is specifically for bloating? (pamprin comes immediately to mind. I'd bet there are others.)
What is blackstrap? Stuff with caffeine helps a little I guess. It makes me have to empty my bladder more often (is there any better way to say something makes you pee a lot? lol) I don't have many other pms symptoms except bloating and being irritable. Over the counter stuff doesn't help me very much.
Dear SaraiLoruhamah I hope what I'm going to say does not offend you or anyone else as I mean it in the most possible respectful and helpful way and entirely for your benefit. If I sound harsh it is only because I feel very strongly about what I have to say and not meaning to put anyone down. If you are going to eat this way, a diet based on junk food, there is very little chance of being healthy. It is completely possible to be healthy on a vegetarian diet(in spite of what your doctor says) but you MUST eat a healthy, balanced diet with things like whole grains, beans, maybe dairy(doesn't work for everyone), vegetables and lots of them, nuts and seeds, and fruit. (If you want to eat meat I'm not against it as long as you don't go overboard.) These are REAL foods that nourish your body and give it the nutrients and fiber that it NEEDS to function correctly. Junk food as you may know has too much salt, too much sugar, too much unhealthy fat, too much refined carbs and almost no vitamins, minerals, enzymes and fiber. Go watch the movie Supersize Me and you will see what is going to happen to you. There are no pills, medications, vitamins, exercises, etc that are going to protect or fix you if you have a diet like this. You seem to know all this already but are not doing it. Some people may say this specific problem you have is not related to diet but if you make a real effort to radically change how you're eating, this problem may solve itself. If you go vegan even with healthy food you will probably need supplements like b-12 and calcium. I take a multimineral and b-complex. You didn't mention the other things like caffiene, tobacco, alcohol and drugs but these can definately be part of the problem. If you go on eating as you have been you will soon become a victim of the medical establishment which is expensive, painful, stressful, and dangerous. Changing your life can be difficult at first but the suffering you face if you don't change is much worse and never ends. If you have any questions please PM me as I may not get back to this thread again. Good luck and God bless.
Thanks so much crazylegs. I have already realized most of what you said, but someone else saying it to me is helpful. I was pretty healthy before I got a job. In the past months I have worked pretty much everyday (Straight from school to work to home to bed after doing homework) along with going to HS and taking a college English course. Just being too tired to cook something healthy and being overstressed drove me to eat like that. I have felt extremely guilty for doing this to my body. I am trying to get things back in order now. I quit my job and school is getting easier because it is getting so close to the end of the year. I have no excuse now to live on junkfood. I am not sure how to make the transition back to a healthy diet- I guess I will have to start thinking about what I am putting into my body instead of just eating mindlessly. Thanks again. I do not find your words to be harsh or offensive- just necessary.
