It just breaks my heart knowing how people can have such little disregard for life. [IMG]

I read over the internet last year that the city of Denver decided to ban pit-bulls within the city limits. I sent them an email asking why they would do that, explaining that how dogs turn out depends on how they're raised, whatever the breed is.

I never got a response back.

The abuse is not only physically bad for the dogs. It's bad for the dogs' reputation too. (An abused animal leads to a mean animal.) Either way, the abuse needs to stop.

My grandmother adopted a female pitbull in the mid 1990s. "Bullet" or "Bully" as we call her now was rescued from a crack house in Jersey City that bred fighting dogs. When the police found her she had six puppies, was in terrible shape, her ears had been cut down to shape with kitchen scissors and she was covered in fighting scars. The pups all found homes either the police officers or the local firemen and Bully was sent to a shelter where my grandmother found her. When my grandmother passed in 1998, my father brought Bully home to live with him and she has been the best friend he has ever had. She is the sweetest, most loving and well behaved dog now. Once in a while she will show a little of her past if someone turns on the ceiling fan in the house (I believe this was the way they trained her to clamp and lock on another dog, by making them hold a rope attached to a fan and then turning it on) but besides that she is great.

My dad told me on Sunday he was looking for pitbull stuff on Ebay and came across some sick individuals selling homemade pitbull fight DVDs....just sick. So, he reported it to Ebay and sent an email to the ASPCA in the state the seller was from (if they help at all - which most of the time they don't) I just can't believe humans sometimes.
