Who gives at home haircuts? Just wondering, There is no way in hell I am going to spend a million dollars on cutting my kids hair in a salon.. I cut my own hair so I figured what the hell I can cut hers too, she is 7 now and has never had a haircut in a salon, and I have only cut it once before but this time we did something really funky!! Here is my daughters new haircut and my sons slipped in there too LOL She absolutely loves it, and I didnt have to spend $30 on a tiny head!!
It's cute! I probably won't cut my daughter's hair, because I have no idea what I'm doing. I'd rather let someone else do it, I'd probably just mess it up. lol
I dont cut my daughter's hair personally, but my mom cuts her bangs. She has never had an actual haircut, she has these adorable curls on the ends of her hair and i'm afraid that if i get it cut they will go away. I think when I do actually decide to get all of her hair cut I will probably take her to a salon because sometimes her bangs come out a little crooked...lol Your daughter's hair is so cute! It's good that she is able to express herself so well, a lot of girls feel like their hair has to be a certain way and would be afraid to cut their hair like that
OMG I remember when I was young, my mom once cut my bangs---you know the straight across cut! Eek it was awful! You have a lot more talent than my mom ever did. In fact, when I was about your daughter's age I wanted that exact same cut! How funny!!!
my kids have never been to a hair salon. I always cut their hair. Now that Jenny has dreads, it doesn't get cut anymore, and Meriel informed me that she did not want her hair cut EVER again when all I did was even it out because when she had two ponytails, one was longer than the other. Except for that toddler mullet I accidentally gave Jenny when she was two (DH threw a big fit and told me not to cut the back, and it was awful! When he was at work, I fixed it into a very cute bob/pixie cut), their hair has always looked pretty good.
Your children are beautiful! Well salons mess up lots anyway. Ive just been to one, theyve done it too short and all uneven
My mom used to cut all our hair. Then we had this hairlady come to our house. Then one day, when I was twelve, someone really messed up my hair, and from that day on, I took care of my hair, I cut it myself. Then when I was 17 I made dreads. Besides only once for coloring, my had wasn't touched by a hairdresser since 12 years
Oooh, cute! I cut my son's hair - he goes from your standard "little dutch boy" mushroom-y bowl cut in the winter to a buzz every summer so it's pretty easy. My daughter has only had trims - her hair grows painfully slow (like less than 2" per year) so she's never needed more than a trim & I can handle those as well. I do also trim my husband's hair, but I have him trim mine because I don't think I could get it straight behind my own back love, mom
That looks so cute! I wanted my hair like that when I was younger but my mom would never let me get it cut that way. You did an awesome job! I plan on cutting Leane's myself for the most part. I was actually on my way to getting my cosmetology/hair dresser's license right before I got pregnant, so at least I know something about hair and won't totally freak her out lol. As for right now though, I don't want to cut her hair at all. I love love love long hair and until she tells me that she wants it shorter, I wanna keep it long, lol
She looks so sweet. I usually cut Meleah's hair. A couple of times she has wanted a haircut that is a bit too complicated for me, then I take her to my cousin's beauty shop. About once a month, my husband & I trim each other's hair. We both have really long, out of control hair that always needs a trim.
Haven't had to deal with it yet. Haven't even thought about it. I know that personally, I hate going places to get my hair cut. I am always nervous because guys "are supposed to have short hair". I'm always scared that I am going to get some hair stylist that feels that they should chop it all off. Skyes hair is finally getting long enough to pull back a bit and I can tuck his bangs behind his ears to keep them out of his face. If I were to cut his hair I would have to start all over. I am positive that no one in my family, other than his mama or me, will ever get near his hair with scissors. They all talk that it need to be cut short. Why does every thing have to be a battle with them? I think I am doing a better job than they did with their children.
FunkyPhreshMama, your kids haircut is awsome. Wish my parents had cut that good, I was looking through pictures the other day and I'd find a picture of me with straight-across bangs and try to guess if mom or dad cut them. (Dad cuts more crooked than mom. He cut my hair 80% of the time) I cut my own hair now, it's not worth it to pay those hair dresser ladies (I think they gave me lice once!), but I might when I shave my head because I don't know how to shave my head.
I always trimmed my kids's hair, until they got older and vainer. I think Lennon was about 6 before anyone got near his head with a scissors, before that, I just trimmed the bangs, because he would get food in his hair. But, the rest was kept long. The girls all have long hair, as do I. Bear alternates, although I WISH he wouldn't cut it at all. LOL! He was talking to a buddy at work a fewmonths ago, saying, "I think I need to get a haircut." And his bud said, "Oh, yeah. Your wife gettin on you about it?" Bear said, "Hell no, if it were up to her, it'd be down to my ass." It would. I LOVE long hair on men. And on womyn, too.
We do! Well, we cut both of our boys' hair, but we've never cut our daughter's because we're letting it grow, grow, grow.
When I was a kid, my mother would force me to get these "Pixie" cuts that were popular with little kids in the 60s. GOD, I HATED THAT HAIRCUT. I had a really baby face, and I look terrible with short hair. She talked me into the LAST time when I was a freshwomyn in High School, took me to her "Beautician." This womyn hacked my hair to pieces. I cried. I looked like a boy. I did go to a Salon, for my College Graduation, gave the guy pictures of what I wanted, just a little trim (my hair was as long as my hair gets then) He cut off EIGHT INCHES. I was livid. I didn't have the guts not to pay him, but I was staring at the mirror, turning white and nearly fainted. He's going "Thweetie, Thweetie, are you OK. OMG, look at those curls, Bruce, LOOK at this girl's curls, I'd DIE for these...OMG......." And I'm looking at all my hair on the floor, ready to cry. It's the last time I let anyone touch my hair, that was 1984.
Maggie, my mom made my sister get the pixie ALL the time... I was subjected to the goshawful Hamill Wedge haircut from the time I was 6-16. (sigh) And people wonder why I keep my hair so long now! love, mom
lol, these stories of hair cuts ppl had when they were kids reminded me of the gawd awful one my mom used to give to me. I was born in the 80s, so that could be part of the reason it was so hideous....but yeah, she would pull all the hair from the center of my head fiward and cut it right across into bangs. Then she would cut two longer "side pieces" that covered my ears. The rest of my hair was down to my bum. Now that cut looked down right bad!
When Meleah was 6 she begged for a pixie cut. I let her get it, but it was awful. She has the chubby face and it was not at all flattering for her. Her hair has grown out about past her shoulders now, but she wants it short again. I don't think it will be good, but if that's what she wants, she can have it.
funny, when I was a little kid, I HATED my long hair! It was always getting tangled, caught on tree branches, stuck in pine sap, getting in my eyes... so I got mom's sewing scissors and I cut it myself - LOL! Mom had no option but to give me a pixie cut, which I really loved! It was liberating to have short hair.
