    it's beautiful indeed

but i think you should draw a flower in the surreal/abstract/awesome way you normally draw :)

Its beautiful, and Im sure your girlfriend will be very pleased with it! I wish I had a guy who would draw me things... no matter how good/bad, I would love it. So what I'm saying is, I wouldn't worry about how 'good' it is (and for the record I think its amazing) she'll love it no matter what! =)

Well thanks to all. I think i'll show her. But i am disapointed in a few things. Like the shading needs to be a little darker in general, but mostly on the stem, and leaves. It's hard to go back and fix because that dark charcoal background will smear. I have to be able to lay my hand down on the paper ya see, and thats just not going to work, but oh well.

with charcoal all you have to do is rub more on. It's quite easy, so don't worry about the background.

No i didn't draw the plant with charcoal. I drew it with graphit. This graphit i've got doesn't seem to want to mix with charcoal. When i draw i have to be able to lay my hand down on the paper otherwise i can't draw straight. I can't do that in this case or the background will get on my hand and smear. But i think i'll spray workable fixetix on it, then go back and darken what needs to be darkened. That way i can lay my hand on it without smearing.

It's nice, but indeed, it's shaded a little err.. lightly...
You could spray (enough!) fixative on the drawing first to make the dark charcoal less smudgy (hold the spray at about 20 cms distance, that works well for me on charcoal drawings), then lay some paper on the dark parts, and then you could carefully start shading the flower!
Charcoal's terrible when it comes to smudginess :(

Anyhow, I think you should show it to her! I'm sure she'd like it, I find it awesome when a guy draws something for me, no matter how skilled he is!

Thanks. Yeah i already sprayed the fixative on it then went back and shaded a little darker.
