You know, since I've started talking with her more about it, I've discovered that my friend Caroline is probally as much as a wannabe-barefooter as I am.

We're both of the opinion that to go barefooted all the time would be foolish, and that some occations require footware, for example, as a web developer, if I was going up town to meet a client, I'd want to look at smart as I can as to impress them, that would involve wearing a full suit, and, of course, propper shoes. It's the same as going barefooted in winter, I'm sure that some people can do it, but for most of us it would be far too cold, and so in that respect, wearing footware is the best option.

Anyway, sorry, I'm getting off track, this thread is about my friend Caroline. She is professional masseuse. she offers a range of treatments, anything from Indian Head Massage to Aromatherapy, even Homeopathy and other 'alternative' therapies.

Anyway, although most of what she does is fairly new age, she does it in a professional way, and so when she's working, has to give off a professional look, so she has all the correct clothing for it (professional looking white top, black trousers, sensable shoes, etc..).

Anyway, I found out today that she's been doing more and more treatments on her customers barefooted. Moreso than that, she's even been going into the waiting room and collecting her customers barefooted (it's one thing to kick your shoes off while giving someone a back massage, then slipping them back on again after, they won't be able to see).

Anyway, I'm not 100% sure why I posted this. I guess to let you know of someone else and their barefoot thing. Since I've spoken with her, we're going to do more barefooted things togther, such camping, etc.. - it's even now become an unwritten rule that if you want to go into her house, you have to go barefooted - not that I'm complaining.

(PS, oh, and with her being a pro masseuse, she gives the best footrubs you'll ever have - I often give them to her, and she's told me I'm very good - and coming from a pro, that means a lot :))

Here in Washington State, I've rarely met a massage therapist who DIDN'T work barefooted or in socks. I think it's cool - my wife is a massage therapist and enjoys giving my feet a good rub, and I enjoy returning the favor. She works mostly in socks (she's not into being barefoot) but occassionally in the summer will work without if its hot enough.
