The elderly may be annoying but they: 1) don't play their car stereos loud enough to shake every other car for 2 blocks. 2) do make better cookies than the young. 3) return the tools that they borrow (usually clean). 4) don't advocate the killing of annoying people. 5) know that your first mistake won't be your last. Therefore, mistakes are no big deal. Treat the elderly the way you will want to be treated. (Isn't there a famous generalization of that principle?) Now, who wants to start a thread about how annoying those blind folks with their white canes are and what should be done about them?
Tape knives to their canes, put two (or more, depending on how big your sightless community is) in a pit, don't let any but the last one alive out. It'd be like pinatas that can fight back.
think about the big change theyve wittnessed ,the state of the world then , and the even bigger state of the world now
All the posters on here that were talking so badly about the elderly will someday join that particular group of people ....and I honestly hope that you will have a caretaker that doesnt share your viewpoint , or you may end up neglected or abused !!
In Britain at the moment there are currently a hundred or more elderly people who have been put on an ASBO (Antisocial Behaviour order. Their crimes range from persistent harrassment to playing loud music and drug dealing. You are just wroong to say this Not true of all elderly people infact my grandmother was an attrocious cook. It was a family joke for a long time and her husband did all the cooking even back in the 1960's Libraries in Britain may tell you a different story some do - see point number 1 hardly creditable since most teenagers know this too Not having a go at you - just pointing out obvious fallacies.
You are welcome to your opinion.....let us hope you have a kind caretaker when you join the elderly Sentient
The bit about the first not being the last is well know. The "therefore mistakes are no big deal" is an attitude of the experienced. Considering how hard people (especialy officaldom) come down on those who make mistakes, I think that recognizing the unimportance of mistakes is a useful trait. Most of my other comments were infulanced by the slight silliness of the whole thread. I'm sorry to hear you had lousy cookies in your youth.
No let’s stick with how annoying the elderly can be ........with their shaking leopard spotted palsied hands, hawkish grin, and smile which forms on their face each morning while they read the obituary section probably thinking - another one bites the dust, and I'm still here Hotwater
I've got nothing against old people. i especially gained a special appreciation for WWII vets after watching Saving Private Ryan. that was crazy!
It takes a very special kind of person to work with the elderly and I for one thank you ladies for your Compassion, Patience, and Understanding.
hgh238, i know you meant this in jest. however, your wording has angered many. all people can be annoying, it is not limited to age.
