I'm sure somebody's posted this before, but I just read it and I think it's great, so here it is again: The Meaning of God There is an indefinable mysterious Power that pervades everything. I feel It, though I do not see It. It is this unseen Power which makes Itself felt and yet defies all proof, because It is so unlike all that I perceive through my senses. It transcends the senses.... That informing Power or Spirit is God.... For I can see that in the midst of death life persists, in the midst of untruth, truth persists, in the midst of darkness light persists. Hence I gather that God is Life, Truth, Light. He is love. He is supreme good. But he is no God who merely satisfies the intellect If He ever does. God to be God must rule the heart and transform it. – M. K. Gandhi (Young India, October 11, 1928)
The train was travelling along when a beautiful young woman entered the compartment which was deserted except for a businessman reading his paper. The man peered over his paper and asked "Would you let me fuck you for a dollar?" "Certainly not!" exclaimed the young woman, and the businessman returned to his paper. A short while later he looked across again and said "Would you let me fuck you for a million dollars?" After a brief pause, the woman replied "yes, I suppose I would." Again the man returned to his newspaper. A few minutes later the man asked "Would you let me fuck you for five dollars?" "Certainly not!" replied the young woman, getting angry now "What kind of girl do you take me for?" "We've already established that" replied the man, "We're just haggling over the price!"
I believe god is the x in an equasion and the last hope they would have. When someone didn't know something, they would say 'god did it', or in their time of need, god was a shoulder to cry upon.
Absolutely. It is the answer to the unanswerable questions. It gives those that believe a sense that everything in this fck'd up world is explainable, and happens for a reason. Whatever helps ya sleep at night, ya know?
