anyone got a good one? I just got some peppermint castile soap that I'd like to make into a good shampoo.
is it like dr bronners? if so, just use it as a shampoo..its wonderful stuff i use it all the time if its too strong though, dilute it some..but i just use it straight
i LOVE dr. bronners. i use the lavender kind. you can buy it at whole foods or any natural foods store. Tamee, that picture in your signature of your daughter is absolutely cute!
yeah it's Dr. Bronner's. It's not too strong, and I usually just use it straight, but I saw somewhere that someone had mixed it with something else to make a shampoo, and I wanted to try the same, but I don't remember where I saw it before. Thanks, Bumble!
its already an awesome shampoo ya dont gotta mix it with anything at all i like the teatree one myself
i love dr bronners but cant find it anywhere..and i live in eugene oregon...lol...if anyone has suggestions fer that lemme know
Man you guys are lucky--the water is so hard in this area that Dr. Bronner's just turns to scum in my hair.
You can get Dr. Bronner's online - they have their own site and I think you can get it on Amazon.com as well. Also, a ton of Ebay sellers have it in their stores. I'm surprised in Eugene you can't find it. Most small health food stores and even places like GNC have it. If you want to get creative though, Mountain Rose Herbals in Oregon sell plain liquid castile (pure) and then you can jazz it up with essential oils like Lavendar, Sage, etc. to make your own sent. I take pure Castile liquid (2 cups) and add 1 cup herbal infusion (I pick the fresh or dried herbs I want and make a tea infusion) then 1-2 tsp. veggie glycerin and my choice of essential oils. You can purchase thickening agents from soap making places, but I don't mind it being runny. I just recycle a squirt bottle and it works fine. Depending on the season, your hair color and type, there are custom blends you can make that are just right for you. I have long, fine, usually dry, blonde hair...so I add moisturizing oils to my shampoos like coconut and jojoba oil (you can get these at Mountain Rose too - mail order or online order) plus chamomile to keep my hair bright blonde. Remember to shake each time you use a homemade, all natural shampoo! If anyone wants a custom recipe I can whip one up for you - just PM me your hair color, type, favorite scents, etc and I can write a recipe for you with a list of tools and ingredients to purchase.
I've done this: I get a bar of castille soap, shred it with a manual cheese shredder into a bowl. Mix it carefully with hot water (a bit at a time) until it makes a paste. Add a tblsp of baking soda, a tblsp of lemon juice, mix it all together and put it into a shampoo bottle.... good natural shampoo
