So, yesterday i decided to sew Sage a holiday dress. My mom has been going on and on about how Sage needed a christmas dress, and she is always picking out those crushed velvet, christmas plaid horrible looking things. So i decided to make something a little more our style. The colors are a bit bright and christmasy...but i still think it came out sweet. This is my first attempt at this style. The dress is tiered with ginham ruffles inbetween the tiers. It buttons up the back. The red print has holly on it, the green print is holly with heart shaped berries, and the white has stars that are white, red and green. It didn't come out exactly like i had envisioned...but i'm still pretty happy with it...now i just need to create some matching bloomers or find some candy cane striped legging/tights. Just had to share!!
i love it, that looks soooo cute on her. candy striped tights would be awesome, they may have some at target if you are near one, they had tons of Christmas socks......
I LOVE it as well! I'm not a fan of the crushed velvet dresses my girls wear either! Great work and great idea mama! AND she is just beautiful btw!
That is so cute the baby and the dress. I love the ruffles between the tiers what a great idea. She has her brothers eyes BTW.
Thanks for all the kynd words!! i think she is super cute too. The ruffle inbetween the tiers was really easy, and i love the way it turned out. Unfortunately i didn't have enough of the fabric to do it at the bottom of the dress. i actually bought these fabrics to cover my Jam jars with for holiday gifts. lol. So i only had a small amount of the different fabric scraps. Thanks Phunkyfreshmama, the closest target is about an hour away...but i think it may be worth the drive. hee hee. hey merryjayne4, Both kids have my hubby's eyes. My eyes are a weird brown green hazel sludge. i do wish i had enough fabrics left to make bloomers with ruffled bottoms.
that is so friggin cute! Those velvet dresses remind me of something horrible my mom would have tried to get me to wear when I was a kid...like hell I'm putting my kid in one of those, lol I didn't make her's this year (she's about the same age as yours is) cuz I don't have the time at the moment, but i did but her a white polka dot one with a red over coat that has that faux fur around the collar and wrists. It's super cute, but not nearly as sweet as that!
