i rented a documentary the other day called "message to love, isle of wight concert, the movie". it was about the music festival held on the isle of wight in 1970. i thought it was amazing, and loved seeing the bands it recorded and the interviews with people... i was wondering if anyone here went to that gathering. if so... what was your experience like?
me too. It was my first Hendrix purchese(well, my dad bouaght for me) and it's been all in that direction since. I now own six or seven hendrix dvds a bunch of cds and the such.
Yes-I was there-I know it sounds like I was at alot of festivals in the 60s and early 70s but I was ;with friends-Me and my partner spent all of 1970 in Europe-We went to that festival and it was cold and rainy-We smoked alot of hash and the music was great-It was 3 days and we slept in sleeping bags and froze-The music was great as it was a good combination of American and British groups playing-Hendrix was brilliant and Jethro Tull was great-I woke up one morning with the sound of the flute playing and it was the Moddy Blues playing Tuesday Afternoon on stage-Great way to wake up!-Yes the weather sucked but the music was excellent-
I have the three-LP album (it also has some stuff from the Atlanta pop festival that year). Great music.
