....for my other half's studio/workshop thing, in Long Eaton, near Nottingham. Mary (Moo)'s studio was set up in April this year as a sort of casual open studio / workshop venue. It's a not-for-profit setup that we've personally funded to encourage people to participate in arts and crafts, very informal, very friendly, and has already had a lot of success with helping people to develop their creative side. It's a smallish but well-equipped studio (kilns for ceramics, glass and enamelling, potters wheel, power tools, spinning wheel, glass cutter, vacuum former etc), run at the moment by a group of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers. Mary's just running through the process of registering as a charity so she can attract outside funding (she's had some already to enable her to run some kids' workshops, a Diwali event, and provide help to local homeless and mental health groups). She's running their first exhibition this weekend, to showcase some of the work done by members and visitors, and you'll be able to see something about that on her website sometime soon (and possibly on Channel 5 next week). You can find out more at http://www.leartroom.co.uk Feel free to drop in if you're ever in the area, she's probably the warmest and friendliest person you'll ever meet....
Haha, that's not a shameless plug. I've looked at your site, it all looks very cool. Good luck with the grant n all that.
lol thanks... she seems to be doing pretty well with the funding thing, getting a lot of interest from the local council now too, and she's been on TV again too (Central News, last week sometime), ain't she clever..?!
