How close to nature do you feel , how close are you to your enviroment do you know your local trees and what you can eat from your local enviroment do you know the state of the local rivers.

have you ever tried to get really close to deer or spent the day watching them or the birds , do you know the names of birds or their calls or tracks .

how many animals plants mushrooms birds ect ect..do you know

can you name the stars in the sky do you know how clouds work or what causes the wind , or what signs mean bad weather or good

do you know where your food comes from

Or do you feel that you could be anywhere and that your local area doesnt really effect you,

being more a night person, i do know more about the stars and the moon and such than i do about day time things like animals and plants. Also, since i spend most of my time living very close to the city, there tend to be less animals and plants around.

I do feel close to nature though. Or rather, i feel close to the spirit of nature, as oppsoed to the natural elements.

curiosity also if your connected to something it effects you more if its damaged .

I used to be more connected to nature than I am now was talking to someone last night about how to deer stalk, I used to do a lot of that not to kill deer but just to see how close I could get to them and for how long and just thought havent done that in years

Only as a walk in the woods or along the cliffs, observe and listen to the birds, note and name the wildflowers, say hello to a cow or sheep, don't see many other mammals. Can't say I've enjoyed the pleasure of stumbling about the woods in the dark, I'd usually be asleep or dancing.

Yes , I am verry close to the earth , and all that lives on her....having been raised in a typical flower child home and sheep farm.....I know the Earth isnt ours...we are just her caretakers....and all that live , be it plants , humans , and animals have souls...as well as our Mother herself.

well you may be moving to fast at night to see much ideally the very early morning is the best time to spot wildlife or the dusk .

I used to deer stalk in pollock devon generally what you do is get up really early look for fresh deer sign which is pretty easy then try to imagine where the deer are .
one thing you need to do is disquise your smell maybe rubbing yourself with pine branches or make yourself smell like a horse, dont smoke or eat smelly food and approach downwind from where you think the deer will be .

Actually a thing to practice is sniffing the air as with practice you can often smell deer or people before you see them , at first this seems a bit crazy but it does work .

take a pair of binoculars an scan the horizon for deer when you get high enough keep low dont get to sweaty breath through your nose as you climb and try to walk silent

It's hard to consider yourself close to nature when you're surrounded by concrete with hundreds of cars constantly zipping past you ... which means most people in this country, most of the time:confused:

My parents aren't really naturey sort of people, although i've been encouraging them to be.

I remember seeing 2 deer in my wood last year, and i keep going back to try and see them again, but with no luck. How do you spy on the without them knowing you're there? Can't they smell you or something?

I've recently got some books out my college library - 1 on wild edible plants in the uk, and 1 on medicines from plants. It's kind of hard to learn it all though without getting hands on experience..

Other than that, i've been looking after my 4 4-month old oak trees which i grew from acorn :)
