Well, it's a week before Christmas and there's no snow on the ground. This has never happened before in my life and when I talked to my parents, they said it's never happened as long as they've lived around here. Not only that, but it got up to 9 degrees (C) today, which is completely unheard of. If we have a snowless Christmas I'll be very upset... and I'll have to stop making fun of Americans so much for not having snow. Seriously though. This is scary. When I was a kid (I shouldn't be able to say that, being 19, but...) we usually had a foot of snow by now; forts and snowmen were built en masse before Christmas. That children growing up these days won't experience real winters is a travesty. While I'm not a huge fan of extreme conditions, give me the five feet of snow, give me the -36 degree weather... I want winter back!
Intresting... In here Finland we usually have snow in christmas, but now we don't have snow at all... Luckily we have some minus degrees about -1 Celsius, but that is really low... This is wery unusual in finland... But there is three day to cristams so there is still some hope... (im sorry if my spelling is wrong... But i am from Finland)
I've got no snow either! It saddens me because my little sister only remembers one Christmas and we didn't have as much snow as I can remember having (bad to say cause I'm 13 maybe but oh well.) I normally walk barefoot in the snow every year twice. Once on Christmas Day and once New Year's eve. This year I can't do that. It's infuriating really, but also deeply saddening.
damn! It's 26.1 and there is no SNOW!! That is really bad really really bad... I hope that when the new year starts there would be snow... But it looks really bad...
We miss snow here. Granted, it didnt used to be snowfall measured in feet, but at least if we got 6 or 8 inches the kids could sled and play. We have not had enough for sledding in the past 2 or 3 years. We are wondering if we'll ever have any snow like that again. Sad.
Fuck!!! It's now 10.1 and we got no snow here! In Finland!!!! In a country where santa lives!!!! Actually it's not even the weirdest thing because now here is a small storm. In Finland there is no storms at all usually!
I refuse to complain. I refuse to complain. I refuse to complain..... But seriously. There is not one thing we can do about this. The weather IS... And as screwed up as it is, the only immediate thing we can do is APPRECIATE THE WARM WEATHER! I can get behind the no snow thing for the moment. I can't get behind the reasons why. Sure I miss the snow (sort of) and it would be nice for a day or two. (This coming from someone who grew up in the lake Erie snow belt.) But winter's hardly over yet, and things COULD take a nasty turn. Wierd weather is wierd weather, and anything could happen. So, hey, in the meantime, let's go camping!
We seem to be having the opposite problem here. Normally we have pretty mild winters here, this year we are getting dumped on. about 4 1/2 feet at my house in the last 2 months. my grandma lives a few miles outside of town in the hills and still has about 5 1/2 feet of snow on the ground at her house from the last 2 storms. I miss my nice dry mild winters.
Extra precipitation (as snow) in some parts could be expected. Most parts getting less snow is the future. http://lwf.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/globalwarming.html
