Looking for Brown velvet Ribbon

Hullo to all you wonderfully crafty

I am in the middle of a sewing project for my sister, it's a skirt for her holiday parties, but I am missing one thing...yup, you guessed it, brown velvet ribbon. I posted a blurb about it in the personal forums but it does'nt get as much traffic as out here and time is getting shorter for me to find it.

I have looked everywhere around here...and have been looking on line for the last week, I really do think it is a conspiracy? How come there is every color but brown??!

Y'all have'nt seen any in your travels have you? Can you point me in the right direction?

Here's the skirt I want to show it off heehee, I just looove the fabric!! I have some silky brown ribbon pinned to the hem, but it just does'nt do it for me...I want to contrast the shiney with the fuzzy.

I finished the skirt with out it though because it is gonna take a while to ship so my sister could wear it out tonight when our mom took all of us girls out to see the Nutcracker performed up at the college.

It was sooo cool to see it on her and she loved how flowey it was (I was happy the arse end of it didd'nt blow out, I was praying to god and having flash backs to all the horrible things i had done to her as kids...she'll never forgive me for the haircuts.). I had to pry my eyes away from it because the sparkles were just enchanting and it fit her butt nice and you could hardly thell the parts where I'd screwed up, lol.
I got a kick out of walking back a bit and watching the reactions to it.

It is beautiful to see playing off the lights.

Then one of my sisters friends said her nine year old designs clothes, and has all these pictures...and for christmas she really wanted santa to make the clothes real for her and she could'nt get over the skirt.

So Morgan's mom is gonna give her a box with a note in it saying santa was having the clothes specially made and he'll drop them off when they are done.

I get to play elf and help facilitate this kids ideas and I got to balance out some of the more tortured memories (mercifully the extra stiching payed off!) my sister and I share.
What a fun night.

Buk said she got stopped so many times on the way to the bathroom. That was how i felt wearing that awesome dress Marie bought from, I think her name is supermommy. The dress was unforgettable, red white and blue with the amazing steal your face aplique. I wore it to a dark star orchestra show up in Dewey beach and that kinda reaction, where people are stopping you and wanting to understand the garment better, just makes you glow.

Well it is not made out of courderoy or calico for starters...I don't blame them.

 

that's so stupid they've rejected the dress for that reason... sure, there has to be some uniformity to hippy clothes so we can recognize other hippies but you've certainly have stayed within the hippy template of the frill couture' for this skirt... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... i know what hippy fashion is cuz my parents were hippy lesbians

the problem is so many people think hippy is one particular stereotype but hippies can get any type of stereo... i have a sony, some friends of mine have panasonic plus so many people now have mp3 players... the idea is that timothy leary said "its all one" and that's what hippy is about... not just about the stereotype

 

I think people should listen to whatever they want and wear what ever gives them that unique hip feeling.

 

true and what i also find annoying is when i light a fire and nobody yells "fire"

 

Perhaps everyone is just busy with their own fires?

ebay's a pretty good place to find some more obscure things, I've found.... especially for crafty items.
