I don't do the Christmas thing, however I have often spread the good cheer with potato pancakes and egg nog. There's nothing particularly hippie about my winter holidays; for a few years the meals were strictly vegetarian. Any hippie traditions out there ?
I don't know if this is "hip" or not, but I just hang out with my family and friends. Sometimes we go ice-skating, or just watch movies. I also like to go "visiting" friends, who I don't really know that well. Um...we bring a tree into our home and bestow upon it small gifts for the tree (aka decorations), but most people do that, something about tree nymphs, right? (j/k about the nymphs)
i dont think i have any hippy tradition, usually family gets together and we decorate the tree..but i dont like all this christmas holiday shit cuz i feel like we're forced to celebrate it and having fun what to me doesnt sounds fun at all
Not really a tradition, but it is believed that many of our current chrismas traditions evolved from the fly agaric mushroom, now im not preaching, just making it known, look at the colors for one (for all you who dont know they are a red cap with white spots). Second comes the stockings and the chimney, in siberia the shaman would crawl through the smoke holes of the yurts with the mushrooms and hang them in bags over the fire to dry. Another known fact is that reindeer eat these mushrooms for there euphoric effects and would be seen prancing around the woods in a state of intoxication, also the poor of these village would go door to door collecting the urine of those who had ingested the sacred mushroom (the urine would be active after the consumtion of 3-4 people). Not sure how you will view this but always great to get a new perspective PEACE LOVE TRUTH BEAUTY!
