alright so i started washing with dr.broners, and my hair looks a bit looser and has alot of loops in it. My freind who helped me with my dreadlocks are definately complaining and saying i dont do enough to maintain them, so i was wondering what i should be doing to maintain then, how I tell if all the wax is out and any other helpful advice you loverly people might want to add
    thanks!

oh tell your friends to go blow. THen pull an wanderlie silva on them

    Dreads need no maitenance.

Loops happen becuase your hair is actually locking, be happy they are there.

Best way to get rid of wax is to just do an acv wash for like 2 hours. That is what I did and I got curious last night and split a dread open and there was 0 wax. ANd that was after putting like half the bloody jar in.

    Yeah acv wash ftw.

    And wanderlie your friends!

You can get a "maintenence routine" at dreadheadhq's site, but you really don't need to. That's the beauty of dreads. They work everything out themselves.

It's exactly the same thing with my dreads. Now they are about 1,5 months old and got lots of loops and loose hair. My friend looked at me and said "Your hair doesn't look like dreads anymore". It made me kind of sad. It's not the thing you wanna hear when you finally see something happening on your head. So I re-backcombed them in desperation but it didn't help. I don't have any answers to what to do, I just wanted to tell you that you are not alone

    Peace :)

WARNING!!!! you should NEVER re-backcomb, then you'll untangel the small knots that has already begun tho knott up...
just take it easy and light up :spliff:

but if they really are untangeling (like so that there is like ½ inch left with knotts, then you can begin thinking of re-backcomb, but it would be good to try not to backcomb were there still is knotts anyway...

I used to have a lot of loops, but as my dreads are getting older, the loops are beginning to go away as my dreads are getting tighter. It's a process your hair will go through...and it's totally normal.

Let your hair go...everything will be fine...and don't listen to your friends...everyone's hair is different and will dread at different times. Besides, if you backcomb your hair, they will inevitably fall out before they tighten again.

I started my locks two years and four months ago and they are now, probably within the last two or three months, just starting to lose the loops. I didn't think it was ever going to happen, but now they are starting to get knotted in with the dread...of course it's going to take time for them to all go away...and it will be different for everyone...

Embrace the knots...that's what makes them unique.
